JOB SUMMARY: Lead multiple, concurrent initiatives providing analytical decision-making support for Universal Parks & Resorts leadership in order to drive significant value through increased efficiency or incremental revenue and positively impact the company's bottom-line.


  • Initiate engagements with clients and strategic partners to proactively identify and analyze business improvement opportunities, research competitive offerings, assess feasibility, and develop business justifications/cases particularly in the areas of driving incremental operating cash flow (OCF) growth, increasing asset/resource utilization, productivity/process improvement opportunities and capacity/demand analyses to address existing and/or to anticipate future UPR operational needs.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge and techniques of industrial engineering and business analytics to departmental projects and initiatives in order to ensure utilization of appropriate unique or derived methodological approach, measurements, tools, and objective, structured analytic techniques (e.g., probability and statistics, process flow analysis, queuing theory, mathematical optimization, computer simulation, etc.). In addition, explore new, state-of-the-art analytical tools and technology that can be leveraged by our team.
  • Assigns personnel and manages the planning and direction of departmental projects and initiatives. Lead and manage interns, co-ops, entry-level Industrial Engineers and/or senior level Industrial Engineers..
  • Provide input to and executing strategic plans for growing our department.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SCOPE: Initiatives and process improvement efforts can apply to any and all operating divisions within Universal Parks & Resorts (UPR).


  • Required:
    • High school degree, or GED
    • Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Decision Science, or a closely-related field
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Decision Science, or a closely-related field of study


  • Required:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of applied industrial engineering and operational analysis, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience performing operational analyses for theme parks, resorts, retail/dining/entertainment venues, etc.


  • Must have knowledge and experience using data querying and programming tools (e.g., SQL, Python, etc.), business intelligence/dashboarding software tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, etc.), and statistical modeling software applications (e.g., R, SPSS, etc.)
  • Proven strong PC skills including spreadsheets, databases, and presentation graphics software
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and/or previous managerial experience
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills
  • Leadership experience in continuous improvement
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated superior conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong strategic orientation/strategic thinking skills
  • The ability to work through complex problems
  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to partner with others and deal with multiple priorities and differing points of view in a challenging operational environment
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and lead complex, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under changing conditions
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Universal Parks & Resorts (UPR) heritage and a commitment to change and excellence
  • Willingness to support a 24/7/365 Universal Parks & Resorts (UPR) operation, which includes periods of high demand (weekends, holidays, etc.)
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
