Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an experienced Senior Principal Engineer Software - Embedded to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Candidates will work on software supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, development and test. Candidates will work on software systems primarily in C/C++ development, with a focus toward embedded design.

Essential Functions:
- Develop new software modules supporting cutting edge technology.
- Ensure software quality through unit testing.
- Support software integration and system testing.
- Assist in system design and troubleshooting.
- Identify and implement software bug fixes.
- Update and maintain software documentation.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in both development and lab environments, and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers. They will utilize experience with the C++ programming language and object oriented programming. This position is for a software developer with a primary focus on embedded development.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience
- An active in-scope TOP SECRET clearance, and the ability to obtain and maintain program access.

optimizing code in an RTOS
- Working knowledge of embedded software design methods.
- Must have experience with formal software life cycle development methodologies, requirements through test.
- Must have experience in Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience developing with the Green Hills Integrity and/or VxWorks Real Time Operating Systems.
- Strong understanding of SCM, including directory layout, external dependencies, and multi platform considerations.
- Experience as an Agile Scrum Master or Product Owner.
- Strong understanding of secure coding best practices.
- Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
- Availability to support occasional travel.

Salary Range: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
