Northrop Grumman Mission Systems for the Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Organization, seeks a Systems Engineering Functional Manager within the Airborne Sensors and Network (AS&N) organization located in Camarillo, Ca and the Naval Base Pt. Mugu NAWCWD. This position will support software and systems engineers developing systems for the EA-18G Growler, Airborne Electronic Attack Mission Planning and JEACO teams.
What You'll get to Do:
This position requires the candidate perform functional management activities as well as program development responsibilities. This position will report to the Department Manager/Engineering Site lead for the E&S Functional organization. It is expected that the functional management role will take 10% - 20% of the candidate's time. Candidate will be responsible for the management of an engineering group consisting of 10-15 software and system engineers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assessing staffing and de-staffing needs and interfacing with Human Resources as needed on behalf of their direct reports.
The manager will be responsible for recruitment activities including development of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers. The candidate will work with program and functional leadership in establishing personal program and functional goals, performing performance evaluations and merit increases, promotion and equity adjustments for direct reports. The candidate will provide their subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, technical support and discipline as required.
It is expected that the candidate will provide their group with regular flow down of company and organizational status and appropriately represent the Engineering and Sciences organization to their team.
Candidate also will work within the Functional E&S organization, CoEs and CoPs on strategic technology initiatives to ensure our engineers have the experience, process and tools to meet future technology and customer requirements from a process, tools and methodology perspective. The ideal candidate will provided best practices in system and software related development to support program execution. Apart from the challenging work this site performs on Electronic Warfare programs, we are looking for leaders to support near term future transitions to cutting edge methodologies, tools and architectures. This is an excellent opportunity to work with industry experts in Electronic Attack, on a highly collaborative engineering team.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field) plus a minimum of five years' experience in software development applications with lead or management experience in a team environment; or Masters Degree in Engineering (Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field) plus a minimum of three years' experience in software development applications with lead or management experience in a team environment
- Experience in the full life cycle for embedded real time software development
- Experience in Requirements Management and related tools such as DOORs.
- Familiarity with real time embedded software system design and development
- Familiarity with Northrop Grumman System/Software Development processes, tools and methods
- Candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills
- Interim DoD Secret Security Clearance to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The candidate should have relevant experience from the Defense/Aerospace industry and should be familiar with all phases of the system/software development life cycle used on a large formal DoD sponsored programs.
- Familiarity in Electronic Warfare/Electronic Attack systems, or Radar/Jamming or Signal Processing on programs or products
- Experience managing, leading and building teams.
- Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Software Development processes and SEI CMMI Level 3, AS9100, or IEEE compliant software engineering practices (or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Digital Transformation concepts such as experience in various Agile Methodologies (SCRUM, SAFe), and MBSE (UML, SysML), DevSecOps, (Continuous Integration, Automated Test)
- Open Architecture Standards from both a software and hardware perspective
- Ideal candidate would hold a full time position in Engineering & Sciences located at the Camarillo site
Salary Range: $119,600 USD - $179,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
