The Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) High Energy Physics Division invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the ATLAS group on the Phase-II Inner Tracker (ITk) Pixel upgrade and physics analysis. The ANL ATLAS group is responsible for the assembly and testing of a large number of ITk silicon pixel modules. The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in the Argonne module construction program. This includes developing module testing capabilities, learning module assembly methods, and participating in test beams and irradiations. The candidate is also expected to participate in physics research carried out within the ANL ATLAS group, with a focus on jet physics and Standard model measurements. The group has strong involvement in Standard Model physics measurements, searches for new physics, Higgs measurements, and performance studies. The Argonne group also has significant involvement in detector operations, TDAQ upgrades, Software and Computing, Machine Learning development, and High Performance Computing.

Position Requirements
  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in High Energy Physics, which was obtained within the last 3 years
  • Hardware experience, especially with silicon detectors, is highly desirable
  • Good analysis skills are required
  • Good general knowledge of current high-energy physics and mathematical methods for physics applications is required
  • Good communication skills are required
