Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Sr Principal Systems Survivability Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in Melbourne, Florida.

The Survivability core competencies are as follows:
• Develops and integrates advanced technology to reduce the detectability of aircraft in the electromagnetic, infrared, visual and acoustic spectrums
• Develops and implements predictive analysis codes; builds and tests physical models; designs, develops and builds test and verification equipment; and develops, tests and integrates specialty materials
• Works closely with engineers of other disciplines to optimize the integration of this technology on existing and future aircraft.
An emerging generation of advanced design and special programs are offering dramatic challenges to low observables / signature management / survivability engineers. These are unique opportunities to join the world leader in the development of Long Range Strike capabilities, our country's next generation stealth fighter, and Reconnaissance and Surveillance aircraft. Some programs are so advanced; their impact tomorrow keeps them hidden today.
Position Descriptions
This role focuses primarily in system survivability product design, development, analysis, and concept integration; materials (including high-temperature), radar cross section (RCS), and electromagnetic design, analysis, and testing.

Essential Functions:
• Perform aircraft survivability analysis, operational employment analysis and Low Observable diagnostic testing/troubleshooting using support equipment and software tools to isolate anomalies and verify repairs.
• Provide threat system analysis, aircraft operations analysis, Low Observable system performance to include fleet signature health using diagnostic test equipment and analytical tools.
• Perform analysis on Low Observable data to identify component and system performance trends, identify component defects and identify potential areas of fleet-wide concern.
• Participate in various process teams and ad hoc groups to develop Low Observable related system requirements, as well as operational employment plans and concepts.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) field of study from an accredited university plus 5 years of experience OR a Masters degree plus 3 years of experience
• A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
• 3 years of experience and/or knowledge in signature reduction technology integration, RCS design, analysis, testing, and material development

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in RF modeling and testing at an indoor/outdoor RCS/RF test facility
• Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personal interaction and collaboration with a multi-disciplined team and customers.
• A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance
• Applied Electromagnetics and/or Aircraft Survivability; or Comprehensive understanding of Electromagnetic Energy transmission though space and within materials
• Strong knowledge of low observables and RCS performance.
• Master's degree in Physics, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
• Proficient in development, executing, and analyzing tests
• Ability to work with internal support organizations such as Global Supply Chain and Security
• Programming experience in C++, MATLAB, Python, or other highly technical languages
• Experienced in one or more CAD software solutions such as CATIA, Unigraphics, NX
• Ability to use CAE and/or FEA tools (i.e. FMS, Patran, Cubit, etc.)
• Proven experience with 3D Method of Moments (MoM) such as SENTRi and 3D Physical Optics (PO) codes such as Ansys HFSS and Xpatch
• Strong knowledge and ability with RCS data processing tools, such as Knowbell, SABER, or Pioneer
• Understanding of propulsion design and RF theory.
• Understanding of LO propulsion integration on survivable platforms (such as material solutions, subsystem integration) and its influence on the system level signature.

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
