Overview

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. We have an immediate opening for a Engineering Manager.

Job Purpose: To provide effective technical engineering support to internal and external customers, including all VAC operations, as required for the sale of valves and automated valve assemblies. When requested, works directly with the sales groups to ensure customer specifications for equipment are met. This position creates and supports the MRC Engineering Standards as well as actively participates as required in support of Training, ISO compliance, Quality, Lean & Operational Excellence initiatives and programs.
Responsibilities

  • Provide direct sales support in the effort to sell automated valve package.
  • Provide direct technical support in the assembly and troubleshooting of automated valve packages.
  • Keep abreast of and implement current automation technology into automated valve packages.
  • Provide proactive support and training of automation technology and equipment.
  • Continued education to maintain an in-depth working knowledge of valve types and applications.
  • Develop, standardize, share and implement engineering best practices at all VAC's thru MRC's Engineering Control Manual.
  • Utilization of CAD design software to create customer drawings, package designs and other technical support as required.
  • Active involvement in ISO, Lean, and Operational Excellence initiatives at all VAC's.
  • Attends industry relevant trade shows, seminars and manufacturers product training classes when available.
  • Willingness to travel as required in support of above listed Engineering activities or customer issue.
  • Represent department on specific projects or assignments.
  • Carry out other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job.

Qualifications

ANY COMBINATION OF REQUIREMENTS WHICH PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
  • Four-year college degree OR equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of MRC Global Engineering OR equivalent valve automation industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Access & PowerPoint.
  • Extensive CAD software & 3D modeling knowledge & capabilities.
  • Extensive demonstrated ability to understand automation and accurate sizing of actuators.
  • Extensive knowledge of actuator types, automation components and their intended functionality.
  • Extensive understanding of most commercially available actuator brands, types and typical automation components.
  • Extensive understanding of valve types and proper valve applications.
  • Ability to author and present training and/or data to a group of peers, managers and external constituents.
  • Frequently executes automation training classes.
