Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is looking for an energetic, self-directed, and focused Principal Software Engineer to join our Test Solutions team located in Warner Robins, GA. The Test Solutions team consists of Systems, Hardware, Software, and Test Engineering professionals working as a team to rapidly develop emerging technologies while performing modern upgrades to legacy Test Solutions.

What you'll get to do:
The selected candidate will get the opportunity to work Research and Development (R&D) programs with an experienced and energetic team to rapidly develop and deploy various test solutions. This candidate will develop, integrate, test, and deliver test solutions to both internal and external customers for testing various avionics, radar and electronic warfare programs. The candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of difficult problems and drive to a solution while working in a supportive team environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to accelerate their understanding of hardware and software integration in the context of an overall systems view.

Your responsibilities also include:
  • Develop software using software engineering best practices and standards
  • Participate in the full life cycle of software development, to include requirements development, application development, modular testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and upgrades
  • Apply technical expertise in solving complex integration problems
  • Interact frequently with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university with at least 5-years of systems or software engineering experience OR a master's degree in one of the above listed majors with at least 3-years of systems or software engineering experience OR a PhD in one of the above listed majors
  • Experience developing software in C/C++
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in C/C++ object-oriented programming within a Windows environment
  • Experience developing custom displays and user interfaces
  • Familiarity with Rapid Application Development (RAD) development environments (QT, .NET, C++ Builder)
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Familiarity with LABVIEW, TestStand, and/or Python
  • Familiarity with Software integration and test techniques
  • Familiarity with integration of avionics interfaces (Ethernet, Fiber Channel, Firewire, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC-429, etc.)

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
