Job Responsibilities
The Analysis & Fine Chemistry group in Air Liquide's Innovation Campus in Newark, Delaware is seeking a talented, collaborative, Ph.D senior researcher to join our multidisciplinary group to Lead the program for new spin on deposition (SOD) formulations and processes for high-tech industrial applications. This team develops and tunes targeted materials to suit customers application processes for use in electronics, automotive, aerospace and healthcare industries.

The ideal candidate will be responsible of the SOD program for formulation and process development for new spin on film processes for developing next-generation semiconductor process chemicals including spin-on dielectric, spin-on hardmask and other spin on applications.Experience working with300mm SOD process equipment including spin, curing, furnace annealing, and surface prep/cleaning and use of advanced metrology and characterization is highly desired.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a safety role model; promote a high level of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain knowledge of literature, patents and evolutionary trends related to the assigned technology area.
  • Lead the team for the design and evaluation of new SOD formulations for application in the semiconductor and non-semiconductor applications
  • Bring and build knowledge in SOD processes, formulation structure and functional relationship based on SOD process performance and upskill junior researchers to SOD
  • Supervision and hands on duties for surface cleans, formulating, coating, curing, testing, and characterizing thin films including low-k spin-on dielectrics (SOD) and other silicon containing films, metals, and metal oxide films
  • Innovate new solutions and generate IP for the SOD portfolio. Support and foster existing customer relationships
  • Develop and sustain new customer/OEM/academic/consortia relationships
  • Understands customer needs and proactively address technology needs and lead R&D initiatives to bring solutions in reasonable timeline.
  • Develop and support new and alternative technologies
  • Interact with AL global business and marketing team
  • Interact from time to time on as-need basis with global R&D to: Lead and foster customer interactions, participate and present at technical conferences, lead or participate in Industrial partnerships and academic collaborations.

Qualifications & Competencies
  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science with specialization in spin on deposition formulations, silicon or other metal/metal oxide polymers
  • 3+ years of industrial experience with hands on experience with Spin on deposition tools
  • Expertise in areas such as design of experiments, SOD process tools including spin, curing, furnace, RTP, UV curing, surface cleans, as well as thin film material characterization, processing troubleshooting and other materials areas.
  • Experience in analytical techniques such as Ellipsometry, FTIR, XRR, XPS, XRD, AES, AFM, SIMS, SEM, TEM, EDX, RBS, GPC, UV-VIS and related spectroscopic techniques
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary topics and with strong ability to interact efficiently in an international environment

  • Collaborative mindset, able to build alliances, persuades others and network internally and externally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral) with an excellent publication track record in conferences and journals
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to define and solve problems in collaboration with AL business partners and external partners and customers.
  • Ability to influence peers through scientific leadership
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing conditions/priorities
