Job Summary

The Adjusting Function is responsible for verifying policy coverage and limits. The Adjusting function investigates and evaluates damage and/or liability; estimates damages, losses, or total indemnity; sets and maintains reserves; and/or negotiates and settles claims. Third party liability and casualty claims involve coverage and liability investigation, negotiation, and settlement of policyholder and third-party liability, property damage, and bodily injury claims.

Under limited supervision, this job is responsible for executing investigations into single- and multi-car auto accidents of a moderately complex and occasionally complex nature to determine property and casualty liability. The individual is responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with policy holders while establishing credibility for the company through the quality of work and thoroughness of the investigations. The individual is responsible for setting customer expectations, communicating timelines for investigation, explaining applicable laws, and determining and explaining coverages. The individual takes recorded statements, resolves loss of use claims, makes payments to appropriate parties, and negotiates settlement for the claims. The individual also delivers compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention. The individual provides work guidance and direction to less experienced employees. The individual works independently, prioritizing the individual's own responsibilities, and managing the individual's own workload. The individual also consistently meets band level behaviors, production, quality, and/or customer service goals.

This position is remote home-based, and we are looking for candidates that live inMST/PST (Mountain or Pacific time zones).

A day in the life:

  • Makes and maintains a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met
  • Researches and responds to moderate and occasionally complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues
  • Reviews customer satisfaction results; works independently to create personal action plans
  • Determines applicable coverage limits in moderate and occasionally complex claims involving single or multiple claimants
  • Takes recorded statements from claimants, insureds, witnesses, medical providers, etc. and prepares summaries
  • Conducts investigations into moderate and occasionally complex auto accidents to determine liability
  • Reviews investigation notes and determines moderate and occasionally complex claim value, coverage and liability
  • Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices
  • In our virtual environment, adjusters are required to engage and participate on camera during online meetings and trainings

As a condition of employment, your office/area may require you to obtain an adjuster and/or an appraiser license.
If required, the Hiring Manager will work with you along with the Centralized Licensing team to ensure that you are properly licensed

You're a great match for this role if you have:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of Liability claims experience is required
  • You’re located in MST/PST (Mountain or Pacific time zones)
  • Value providing an effortless customer service experience
  • Are organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Are known for clear and professional communication - both written and verbal
  • Being bilingual and/or having prior military experience is a plus
  • This position is not available for California, Alaska, and Hawaii residents

Compensation offered for this role is$51,600-$75,000and is based on experience and qualifications.
