Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a Software Engineering Manager 3 to join our team. This position will be located in Warner Robins, Georgia. Our team in Warner Robins is a world class provider in modernization and sustainment capabilities for mission and weapon systems.

What you'll get to do:
The selected candidate will get the opportunity to lead our Software Engineering team. This team has 40+ personnel that are comprised of both embedded software and application software engineering teams. This team provides software solutions both to our internal and external customers with a focus on creating and sustaining embedded software solutions (e.g. OFPs) and application software solutions (e.g. automated system test software, hardware virtualization tools). The manager will shape our Software Solution strategy, provide leadership, and guide the success of all responsible engineering efforts.

Your responsibilities also include:
  • Provide project and technical oversight of all activities performed by the group
  • Prepare cost estimates, provide proposal inputs, and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
  • Increasing software engineering competencies through employee development and strategic hiring
  • Candidate will be a thought leader of software engineering best practices for both their team and the organization.
  • Balancing employee needs with business goals
  • Provide ownership of and direction to the processes used in the group
  • Apply best practices in design, manufacturing, and test processes to projects
  • Support department initiatives, forecasting and recruiting, technology roadmap creation, and champion continuous process improvements
  • Champion of new business and strategic growth for your engineering area of responsibility
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in an engineering discipline with 14 years of engineering experience; OR Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of software design experience for military systems
  • 3+ years of project management / IPT leadership / cost account management experience.
  • Experience as an engineering manager, program manager, and/or technical lead
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills along with proven success working in an integrated product team environment.
  • High proficiency in software engineering best practices, technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to build customer relationships and deliver innovative software solutions for both existing and new customers
  • Experience in cost estimation, cost account management, developing detailed integrated schedules, risk identification and management, earned value management, and proposals
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret (or higher) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science or Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of USAF Electronic Warfare, Radar, and/or Avionics business areas
  • Experience leading large cross functional development projects.
  • Breadth of engineering experience across multiple programs and business development activities
Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $221,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
