GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision from the Dean, the Department Coordinator will be expected to carry out various duties associated with the everyday operation of the department and programs provided. Lead- regardless of title, through positive influence. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Advise/support students from admission to completion. Assist assigned students in developing academic plans that meet their goals and future aspirations. Possess a working knowledge of student support areas (ex: Academic Advising/Transfer Advising/Financial Aid/International/Career) Evaluate and maintain student records. Document advising interactions. Maintain a working knowledge of Kirkwood's student policies and procedures and explain those processes in a clear way. Cooperate with other departments and offices in the college to foster communications and services to meet the needs of students. Update and maintain college catalog, program sheets, and web pages. Plan and implement student recruitment activities. Represent department during new student orientation. Assist in planning, development and coordination of course schedules Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Serve on college-wide committees.
