Position Brand Description:

Lilly is at a critical juncture as we tool up to realize the potential of our product pipeline. We are building new processing capabilities around the world, and emphasizing emerging, innovative processing technologies, such as continuous processing, biotech platforms, and advanced data and control systems. Additionally, we are recapitalizing older assets, and bringing the operational philosophies in line with current technologies. Global Process Automation & Control Engineering (GPACE) is part of the Engineering Tech Center (ETC). GPACE provides automation, measurement, cyber-security, and process control solutions. GPACE is a technical resource for training, standards, capital project delivery, and Lilly's standard automation platforms. GPACE's primary customers are global manufacturing and development sites, MQ-IDS (Corporate IT), Corporate InfoSec, and peer groups such as Global Facilities Delivery (GFD) and Global Quality.

Responsibilities:

The Process Automation Engineer - Platform's role will be part of Lilly's Corporate Automation Engineering team and will support Lilly facilities globally working closely and collaboratively with MQ-IDS. The position requires a high learning agility and experience in one or more process automation platforms with a strong focus on Level 1 and 2 systems such as PLC's, HMI's, and Distributed Control Systems. The role will also have a focus on automation cyber security solutions and developing architectures for the future.

Additional responsibilities for this role include 1) Support cyber security programs for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technologies (OT) including vulnerability detection and mitigation, risk assessments, and technology evaluations. 2) Collaborate with MQ-IDS security teams to develop longer-term strategies to reduce operational risk. 3) Develop and deliver solutions to manufacturing sites globally to improve architectures and data flow.

Key Objectives/Deliverables
  • Work safely and continually look for improvements to both people and equipment safety.
  • Provide corporate leadership in vulnerability risk assessments and communicating to manufacturing site representatives.
  • Develop and lead cyber security programs and projects across Lilly manufacturing
  • Provide corporate leadership to our community of practice for our manufacturing cyber security engineering teams.
  • Innovation - Bring external and innovation focus, combined with a strong understanding of business objectives, manufacturing and quality processes and technologies, IT/Automation applications and Infrastructure to define the future state vision for manufacturing.
  • Provide automation designs including ICS Cyber Security to corporate engineering conceptual studies for new systems and sites.


Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or a related science field
  • 2+ years' experience in process automation
  • Experience with one or more automation platforms as process control engineer, systems engineer or system administrator


Additional Preferences:
  • Experience in pharma or GMP industry
  • Experience in cyber security program management
  • Experience working with validated systems
  • Knowledge in Historians, S95 networks, and IT platforms


Additional Information:
  • Domestic and International travel may be required (approximately 10%)
