The New Therapeutic Modalities group (NTM) is an organization within Lilly Research Labs that discovers and develops drugs in novel modality space (including but not limited to RNA, gene and cell therapeutics). We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join a cross-functional group of scientists in the NTM organization in Cambridge, Massachusetts or Indianapolis, Indiana. The selected candidate will develop and use groundbreaking computational techniques to solve drug discovery and delivery problems in association with scientific teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver state of art methodologies and capabilities in the field of RNA Therapeutics by applying bio-cheminformatics techniques, the latest machine learning and AI algorithms
  • Play a critical role in the development of RNA informatics and computational platform from discovery to development
  • Contribute to on-going portfolio projects within RNA therapeutics
  • Represent RNA therapeutics as a technical/scientific lead on cross-functional research teams that include discovery, development and research IT organizations
  • Drive the evaluation of external and internal capabilities and facilitate collaborations with external partners.


Basic Qualifications:

Ph. D degree in computer and information sciences, cheminformatics, computational chemistry or related field with at least four years of experience in RNA drug discovery within or intersecting with the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience working with Cloud (AWS) and High-Performance Computing
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation in enveloping/delivering innovative methodologies, tools and applications in bio/cheminformatics and machine-learning.
  • Proven experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing complex data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: cheminformatics, computational chemistry and machine-learning
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating across functional boundaries
  • Extensive experience in solving scientific problems using programming languages (c++/python/php/javascript/...)
