As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

• Promote and advocate for a strong Compliance culture in Cards & Retail Services: Customer Service and Credit Operations establishing Compliance priorities with senior management and communicating these      priorities effectively.
• Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based compliance programs to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements or may provide oversight to a   compliance function.
• Works with the most complex business units and provides compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines, to identify, assess   and mitigate regulatory risk.
• Maintain and foster strong relationships with product teams, Control partners, Compliance Governance partners, Legal and other business units to facilitate discussions and resolve issues.
• Consults with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manages change to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Reports findings and recommendations to executive management or management committee member/head of business.
• Compliance review and approval of customer communications
• Review and credible challenge issue management and remediation activities
• Provides compliance supports to agency or other examinations conducted by external parties.
• Leads project/virtual teams and mentors lower-level staff.

 



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive banking compliance experience with an in depth understanding of risk management relating to unsecured consumer credit products, collections activities, customer service and complaints.
  • Experience with the interpretation of laws, rulings, and regulations impacting the supported lines of business.
  • Providing advice that protects the Bank’s reputation and mitigates regulatory risk.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • CRCM designation or prior experience as Examiner or Auditor
  • Experience working with examiners and internal auditors


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
