As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The Compliance Officer for our Consumer Lending Shared Services space will:

• Assist the Compliance Sr. Director in developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based compliance programs to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements for Consumer Lending Compliance Shared Services  
• Advise on compliance risk and provide credible challenge related to Front Line risk identification and business initiatives for Third Party Collection Agenices, Law Firms and Process Servers 
• Support regulatory change management activities for Consumer Lending Shared Services 
• Review and challenge of third party risk assessments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Provide compliance risk expertise to the business on projects and initiatives, generally spanning multiple business lines, to identify, assess and mitigate regulatory risk 
• Advise the business with respect to mitigation and controls, as well as address gaps in control design and effectively manage change to ensure regulatory compliance
• Review and provide guidance on compliance issues to ensure proper development and implementation of effective corrective actions and risk mitigation processes
• Escalate significant issues as required by the Company’s escalation principals and defined criteria 
• Participate in the review of business requirements on new initiatives/product modifications
• Conduct compliance review of business policy and procedures
• Support Enterprise Testing & Validation
• Develop reporting materials for senior management and/or the board of directors on relevant compliance matters relating to Consumer Lending Shared Services



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Experience driving and leading organizational change in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Strong relationship management skills



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 3rd party compliance experience
  • Collections compliance experience
  • Familiarity with regulations: FDCPA, UDAAP, fair lending, TCPA, etc.


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
