Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

The Head of Region Finance Support East/West is a Finance Senior Manager role within Branch Banking Finance, reporting directly to the Head of Branch Banking Finance. The Head of Region Finance Support East/West will lead a region-aligned Finance team that support Wells Fargo’s national retail branch network. Region Finance Support provides trusted advice and strategic guidance to the Regional Banking leadership team at the Regional Banking Executive, Lead Region President and Regional Bank President levels.  More specifically, the team is responsible to drive branch network profitability via analysis of financial results, insure that staffing targets are achieved down to the branch level, provide oversight of expenses and develop Business Review content.

The Finance Senior Manager role that will be Head of Region Finance Support East/West will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage Regional Finance Support team, supporting each Lead Region President and their Region Bank Presidents.  The team includes Lead Finance Consultants assigned to each Lead Region President and Senior Finance Consultants each assigned to three Region Bank Presidents.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Regional Banking Executive and Lead Region Presidents based on analysis of financial results and other key business metrics in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead Branch P&L learnings across the network.  Implement discipline around monthly Branch P&L analysis across the regions in order to develop skill, understanding of results and the ability to connect to leading indicators and behaviors.  Partner with Learning & Development and Growth & Branch Administration on ongoing training.
  • Architect Field Leadership Business Unit Review including structure, agenda, content and follow-ups.  Build out content to include profitability, employee, customer and operational metrics.  Prep leadership through analysis of Business Unit Review package data.  Drive agenda to get to root cause of issues and document follow-ups.
  • Lead implementation of Staffing Model targets, ongoing monitoring and activities to achieve in partnership with Recruiting & HR.  Partner with Workforce Optimization to streamline processes, understand assumptions and actively participate in future development.
  • Partner with Branch Banking Reporting to insure Leading Indicator reporting connects to business strategy and Branch P&L outcomes.  Identify new metrics, incorporate leading indicators into Business Review content and insure dashboards are being leveraged to drive behavioral change by field leadership.
  • Review and recommend approvals of real estate business cases for consolidations, de novos and relocations.  Develop understanding of underlying financial model assumptions and make recommendations to improve.
  • Partner with other Regional Banking support functions to insure Finance input is included, strong relationships are built, and fact-based data-driven decisions are made.
  • Partner with Branch Banking Strategy on analysis of various initiatives impacting branches including but not limited to transaction migration, job family changes, growth initiatives, efficiency opportunities through technology and/or process changes.

This position requires a higher level of skill and experience in order to manage the complexities of the business across the enterprise functions, with the ability to drive the processes in a proactive manner versus a reactionary manner and create the foundation for strong financial discipline. This position will advise senior leadership on issues with high, critical impact on the success of the business and enterprise.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics or reporting
  • 5+ years of management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting
  • Demonstrated success and mastery managing in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
  • Ability to form a story through data analysis
  • Strong analytical skills including analysis of financial metrics
  • Ability to interact effectively and confidently with senior management
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to organize and present analysis in a holistic manner for management decisions

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
