About the job

Design verification (DV) engineers are responsible for providing confidence that a semiconductor chip will meet all specifications in the data sheet, work robustly in the customer's system and be optimally manufacturable and testable, before the device goes to tapeout (mask / pattern generation).  To do this, they run simulations to validate the device in various system/functional scenarios, break and overstress the device, prove that behavioral models are adequately cross-checked against the actual design, analyze complex circuit interactions (i.e. voltage domain crossing, floating nodes), etc.


DV engineers work closely across front-end and back-end teams to ensure full alignment before, during and after silicon production. You can think of DV as the auditor or quality assurance team for our designs and devices; this discipline is critical to verify device functionality, mitigating risk of qualification failures, customer returns and unplanned rework -- which will impact a business' ability to continue to sell and develop new products.


In this position, you will be working on AMS verification of advanced mixed-signal battery gauge, monitor and protector circuits using state-of-the art process technology. In this role, your responsibilities will include the following.

  • Develop detailed Verification/Test plans using specifications to cover all the analog/digital functionality/features of a mixed-signal chip for our next generation designs.
  • Develop SystemVerilog/VerilogAMS chip-level testcases based on the verification plan.
  • Testcase debug and Verification closure for the analog/digital functionality of Mixed signal chips, at chip-level in AMS environment.
  • Finding design bugs with break-the-design mindset and ensuring design is bug-free and robust.
  • Develop verilogAMS based behavioral models for the analog blocks and integrate them in the chip-level verification environment.
  • Running regressions and DV closure activities.
  • Work closely with design , systems teams to review/close spec gaps and design bugs, as they arise.
  • Work closely with Validation and Test teams pre and post silicon.
  • Be proactive in risk assessment and drive solutions to mitigate them

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong hands on working experience in AMS verification for Mixed-signal chips.
  • Strong programming skills using SystemVerilog and VerilogAMS.
  • Good in verification approach, flow, concepts.
  • Experience in writing an exhaustive verification plan from the specs.
  • Experience in chip-level testcases in SystemVerilog.
  • Experience in metric-based Verification closure using Code and Functional coverage.
  • Experience in random/constrained random verification.
  • Experience with Cadence simulation and debug tools.
  • Good in debugging skills. Ability to work independently and self-driven/motivated person.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good team player.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
    • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results.
    • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery.
    • Working well in a team environment is imperative in this role.
    • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships.
    • Good listener and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with UART, SPI, I2C communication protocols is a plus.
