About the Role

This role reports directly to the APAC Head of International Regulatory Relations. The role will be responsible for covering Singapore Branch Regulatory Relations as lead and assist the APAC Head of Regulatory relations for regional support to APAC countries including the co-ordination, preparation and execution of regulatory commitments and exams pertaining to the follow-on activities post implementation in respect of International activities and Regulatory Relations change projects in APAC.

The role will have responsibility for ensuring an effective and efficient regulatory engagement process and critical regulatory interactions in Singapore. This will involve collaboration with senior management in Singapore to set strategy for the regulatory engagements pertaining to the efforts and assures connectivity across the business, lines of defence, regional, legal entity and/or enterprise functions in accordance with enterprise regulatory relations strategy, policy, and related procedures.

The role will also serve as a central hub to manage consistency of approach and messaging across regulatory engagement activities and identify and respond to key themes in supervisory activities in APAC.

This role will be visible, demanding, and rewarding, interacting regularly with the regional and international Regulatory Relations, senior business and functional leaders, members of governance committees and the Regulatory Relations leadership team.


  • Leads and supports end-to-end regulatory engagement for the regulatory commitments for Wells Fargo Bank NA Singapore Branch and Wells Fargo Securities Singapore,
  • Acts as primary contact for regulators for information requests and coordinates updates to regulators on remediation activities in Singapore.
  • Ensures full adherence and alignment of all activities to the Regulatory Relations strategy, policy, and related procedures.
APAC Advisory and Support
  • Support the APAC Head of Regulatory Relations in the build out of capabilities to deal with pending and actual exams, in partnership with other stakeholders for exams in APAC.
  • Interacts on a regular basis with senior management and key partners to maintain awareness of the regulatory environment and state of regulatory relations through written and verbal communication on exams and related project based activity
  • Performs oversight activities to assess and ensure adherence to the Regulatory Relations Policy and Procedures to align standards in APAC with International requirements.
  • Evaluates and advises on senior management and business/enterprise function materials, presentations, reports, and communications to ensure regional consistency on external messaging in APAC.
  • Collaborates across the Lines of Business, Operations and front line Control leaders to develop and implement appropriate regulatory engagement strategies.
  • Develop or collaborate with PMO on developing program status reporting and identification and escalation of risks, issues, and/or key decisions.
  • Promote and maintain a risk culture that encourages an informed, measured, disciplined and balanced approach to understanding and managing business process risk.
  • Lead with integrity and create an environment where team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energises them.

Market Skills and Certifications


  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes regulatory relations, compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management or at a regulatory agency preferably in Singapore.
  • Experience in regulatory relations, risk management and reporting, compliance, internal audit, finance within financial services industry.
  • Proven experience of having a solution driven attitude, ability to build relationships within the organisation and delivering results whilst working across competing priorities and time zones.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrable experience in building and maintaining strong and credible relationships with key stakeholder groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), create a vision, influence strategically and achieve buy-in from stakeholders at all levels in order to successfully execute business initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to process multiple tasks simultaneously and plan, prioritize and set goals.
  • Experience in business writing to optimize business-related documentation, such as committee materials and communications tied to regulatory issue progression, that provides concise and ease of consumption for senior leaders and regulators
  • Ability to execute in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while balancing multiple priorities

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of the financial services industry, products, and regulatory environment.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory relationships and financial transaction processes.
  • Experience in embedding risk management practices in the financial services industry, including development, implementation and sustainment of approach.
