We are seeking an Associate Packaging Engineering Specialist (Level 2) to join our team located in Forest Park, Georgia. You will be preparing packaging plans in accordance with military packaging standards and review material for Dangerous Goods as described in CFR 49.

TWL supports operations and strategy in logistics, warehousing, and reusable packaging engineering. TWL projects are expansive across the Boeing enterprise, affecting all business units, and have immediate impacts on financial results. Autonomy for individuals and teams to execute on the right business solutions is supported throughout our organization. This fast-paced team operates much like a start-up with good ideas moving quickly into operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Expect to learn all facets of packaging, earning invaluable skills and industry knowledge.

  • Develop packaging and preservation instructions in accordance with Military packaging standards.

  • Researches, develops and validates packaging designs.

  • Produce packaging container designs utilizing 3D CAD system.

  • Under supervision, determines efficiencies and prepares improvements for implementation as part of cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications.

  • Assist in providing logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international laws.

  • Assists with developing warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materials.

  • Under supervision, maintains employee awareness for hazardous materials (dangerous goods) general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations.

  • Evaluates, classifies and develops packaging instructions for hazardous materials

  • Plans the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations.

  • May occasionally interact and present to high level organizational leadership

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience reading & interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Degree in Engineering or technical discipline

  • Military packaging experience

  • Hazardous materials packaging experience

  • More than 1 year of experience in packaging supporting a manufacturing program

  • More than 1 year of experience working NX (Unigraphics) or Solidworks

  • Experience working with CAD/CAM software

  • Experience working independently

  • Analytical and design skills

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master + 1 years' related work experience, 7 years' related work experience, etc.).
