**Job Description:**

Westat is currently seeking motivated individuals with a commitment to excellence to supervise for an important study funded by the National Institute on Aging in a cooperative agreement with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The study is known as the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS).

The role of the NHATS Supervisor is to support data collection. Supervisors have three main tasks:

+ Supervise data collector quality, costs, and production for more than 15 employees;

+ Manage the completion of caseloads; and

+ Complete reports and maintain records according to study protocol.

Protecting the health and safety of our employees and survey participants is a top priority for Westat. **Basic Qualifications**

Candidates must:

+ Be 18 or older (or an emancipated minor) with the ability to enter binding confidentiality agreements to protect project information;

+ Be available to work full time from April 4, 2022, through the end of the field period; including:

+ Be available to attend virtual Supervisor training and complete study training materials, April 4 – 8, 2022

+ Be available to complete the Trainer training home study materials, April 11 – 15, 2022

+ Be available to attend in-person Trainer training, April 19 – 22, 2022

+ Be available to attend in-person Supervisor training, May 1-2, 2022

+ Be available to attend in-person Data Collector training, May 2 – 14, 2022.

Field Supervisors must successfully complete training and demonstrate the physical activities component.

Training dates may be subject to change depending on COVID-19 rules and regulations.

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Have at least 2 years of supervisory experience;

+ Be available to work full time (approximately 40 hours per week) from April through November 2022;

+ Be willing to travel locally for project work with a possibility of overnight travel. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (as required by local ordinance) is required. Employees needing to travel for project work must ensure that they have proper documentation that meets REAL ID requirements;

+ Be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations, which include lifting and carry up to 30 pounds of equipment and materials; walking a few blocks; kneeling or bending to mark out the walking course; climbing a flight of stairs while carrying equipment; and demonstrating and assisting respondents with the physical activities component;

+ Have regular and reliable access to telephone service with a long-distance calling feature, either landline or cellular;

+ Have regular and reliable access to a secure high-speed internet connection;

+ Have regular and reliable access to an insured vehicle; and

+ Have a valid (current) driver’s license that is not under suspension.

**Preferred Criteria**

+ Have 2 years or more interviewing experience on NHATS;

+ Have 2 years or more of supervisory experience on other household or field studies;

+ Previous experience supervising 10 or more employees;

+ Have excellent management skills with experience supervising/directing the work of others;

+ Have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English;

+ Have strong reading, verbal, and written communication skills;

+ Have experience using Microsoft Office productivity software such as Word, Excel, and Teams;

+ Have experience using smartphones and tablets and related apps;

+ Have excellent computer skills (access the internet, use the keyboard and email) ;

+ Be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented; and

+ Be flexible in working assigned tasks.

Skype, FaceTime, or Teams will be used to conduct interviews with candidates for this position.

This is a full-time hourly, exempt position not eligible for overtime pay. This position is initially eligible for health insurance. This position is eligible for holiday pay and may qualify for vacation pay depending on hours worked. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $28.13 to $29.00 depending on experience. This position qualifies for sick leave pay and FMLA based on hours worked. Working on this study can be a fascinating, rewarding experience.
