Our employees are not only part of history, they’re making history. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management. Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems. Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process. Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases. Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs. Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs. Roles and Responsibilities: Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections per (AS9102 or equivalent) and Source inspections. Participates in site Preventive Corrective Action Boards (PCABs), Program reviews, and Customer meetings as the Supplier Quality (SQ) representative. Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented. Review Purchase Requisition and Purchase Orders for quality Notes flow-down to supplier Work with key suppliers to ensure they are performing well and their capacity and capability are adequate to deliver products to specifications and on time Perform Supplier performance management by analyzing performance data, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.  Perform or facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) for Quality Management System (QMS) non-compliance.    Familiarity with Cost and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) requirements/analysis.  May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies. Working knowledge of SAP also required. Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims. Strong communication skills (both oral and written) will be necessary to support the assignment and weekly reports. Be able to analyze and present data to collaborate and foster positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline 2+ (two) years of related experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, or quality engineering Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System certification process, GD&T, J-STD and Machining process Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AS9100 (standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry) SAP Business System experience Possess current DOD Secret clearance. MAQEA Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
