Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary This position is responsible for performing experiments and analysis of metabolic extracts by using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), and performing basic maintenance of instruments. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Perform molecular biology experiments, including qPCR and western blot under the direction of the supervisor or colleagues in the lab. Work with in vitro and in vivo models of disease. Analyze data, with input from the PI or colleagues. Help maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation. Assist in manuscript preparation and do literature searches as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This position involves handling of strong acids and bases, as well as organic solvents, animal handling, and working with human cell lines.   Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge with data organization, analysis, and graphics software packages. Experience with cell culture methods, cloning, and in vivo models of disease. Ability to work on several projects in parallel and associated good time-management skills.     Excellent oral and written communication skills to work closely with the Principal Investigator (Patti) and other laboratory researchers. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related area of study and one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling five years in a related field. Ability to work independently and to work in a group environment.  Grade R06-H Salary Range $15.61 - $24.39 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
