Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in San Diego, California is currently seeking a Manager, Software Engineering 2. This candidate will be responsible for the functional management of approximately 10 software engineers and program assignment of approximately 14 software engineering personnel assigned to the Triton Program. The candidate will lead the Triton Mission Systems IPT software efforts, collaborating with other teams within the program across multiple disciplines. Functional duties include conducting performance assessments, staffing, employee development, communication meetings, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval and other routine personnel issues. This position will be responsible for establishing common processes and practices in cooperation with colleague managers across the sector. This person must have experience in the full lifecycle of complex software systems. In addition to being a Control Account Manager (CAM), this candidate will also manage capital project efforts and provide oversight on the support provided to the Production and Sustainment contracts.
Responsible for managing a software team that supports multiple Triton contracts (Development, Advanced Development, Production and Sustainment)
Responsible for managing and reporting budget and schedule status for software development activities as the CAM
Responsible for managing staffing and reporting status and metrics to IPT and Functional leadership
Support coordination and content for program EAC reviews at a rhythm defined by the program
Work closely with other teams within the program across multiple disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, networks, system test, etc) and management professionals to ensure that the software lifecycle is accomplished with high quality and efficiency
Oversee and manage the quality and timeliness of the MS SW products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems
Support program reviews (e.g. Initial Baseline Review (IBRs)) as required program
Provide functional management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, disciplinary actions, and direct engagement
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 9 years of software development experience or Masters and 7 years of experience
Prior software leadership experience
Must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle
Prior leadership experience using agile development, including participating as Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment
Active DOD Secret Clearance
Experience with application development languages, environments, embedded integration and application specific Integration
Experience in a CI/CD environment
An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline
Advanced technical management degrees
Previous experience in engineering functional management is a plus
Previous experience using Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Crucible/Fisheye, Bamboo), Jenkins, SonarQube, Coverity and Fortify
Previous experiencing using TeamCenter
Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrate exemplary professionalism and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
Demonstrate strong team-building/collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to build diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members

Previous experience in developing proposal inputs (task descriptions and basis of estimate)
Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities
Prior experience with cost account management and task/resource planning
