Title: Data Analyst and Report Developer ( IT / IS ) Employee Classification: Professional F/T 52 Wks Unit   Department Enterprise Computing Services Position Summary: Performs duties necessary to design, develop and implement moderately difficult reports and programs that require some latitude for decisions. Responsible for turning the College data and analytics strategy into action, developing solutions to meet the College’s data warehouse and reporting needs. Gather and document systems of record, data dictionaries, and reporting requirements and design, develop, implement, and support mission-critical enterprise database reports and dashboards. Creates and develops business reports, consulting with users, participating in analysis of user requests, evaluating reports and program packages. Assess information and reports that integrate with the information system to create ideal end products and carry out tests which may involve using end users. Collaborates with College partners and IT leadership to gather business requirements and create and maintain metadata and BI presentation layer. Maintains proper configuration management and changes controls for reports and dashboards. Actively contributes to the creation, development, and maintenance of a college data dictionary. Participates in data governance, developing institutional data standards and policies, and maintaining and enforcing policies related to data management and use. Trains, assists, and supports functional areas in creation of standard and for generation of ad hoc reports, and provides support, as needed, to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboard for faculty and staff. Maintains awareness of current practices and future trends in report development, business intelligence, and data analysis technology and best practices. Represents IT and participates in the campus community by serving on working groups, project teams, and college committees. Analyze reporting service requests and define technical specifications for efficient development, then develop efficient and effective reports to meet user requirements and expectations. Translate the business and reporting requirements into business analytic reports. Maintain ongoing communications with users and customer service protocols through periodic status reports, system previews and testing. Perform intake review and maintain the production Business Intelligence reports, including resolving production issues and responding quickly to priority problems. Perform quality review of new and existing reports. Coordinate end user review and acceptance of the developed solutions. Work with business analytic team members in maintaining reporting standards and protocols. Identify opportunities for self-service and educate the business on self-service capabilities. Maintain documentation of reporting solutions, data mapping, data dictionary, and reporting standards. Follow current coding protocols and expected report and systems documentation. Support IT goals and objectives by working closely with management team to deliver value to the business. Responsible for the development of reports, scripts, or queries, etc., and retrieval and presentation of student and business data. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Primary Duties Performed:   Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline or the equivalent work experience and education/training providing similar knowledge and skills. Three years (3) relevant full-time experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting and knowledge in Banner ERP Information Systems Programming experience working in an Oracle ERP environment including PL/SQL. Knowledge of Data Modeling logical and physical data modeling concepts (including complex data and structures). Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) architecture, data warehousing technologies and tools. Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively within the college environment are required. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, including ability to anticipate, identify, and solve critical problems. Ability to gather and analyze data, generate reports, analyze operational data requirements to create and develop database specific to requirement. Strong written and oral communication skills (including ability to present ideas in user friendly, business-friendly, and technical language) and interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.
