As a Business Intelligence Analyst III, you are an expert in assisting business partners drive value from information. You assist the Senior Director of Smart Cities while supporting and managing a program of business unit initiatives that provide concise, high-quality information. You guide the Smart Cities unit in leveraging data to identify and address business opportunities and threats. You ensure that business needs and goals are realized by completing accurate analysis and reporting activities for the business unit. You excel at guiding your program within an office environment providing consultation on the interpretation of data via in-person, email, and telephone. You report to the Senior Director of Smart Cities for goals, guidance and assistance.

What you will do:
  • Encourage company-wide success by actively and consistently supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience.
  • Improve business units across the company by providing expert advice and education in the use and interpretation of relevant business data to the business unit.
  • Ensure the success of projects and initiatives by communicating data nuances and insights to all levels of the company in a clear and concise manner.
  • Enhance business units across the organization by assisting users on how to leverage BI capabilities for accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Leverage knowledge of Business Intelligence capabilities and familiarity with business trends to identify patterns, opportunities and threats.
  • Work closely with business partners to gather detailed business requirements, establish business definitions, translate information to technical requirements for the development team and gain approval.
  • Interact with senior management or execute level clients to provide support as needed.
  • Finalize designs and receive sign-off by creating report mock-ups based on requirements and coordinating with technical team.
  • Increase business user productivity by supporting all scheduled and non-recurring information needs.
  • Support any form of user needs, including research, ad-hoc querying and managing large information projects through a detailed understanding of data elements in the warehouse.
  • Query large datasets and tables to provide information requested by business users.
  • Ensure successful user adoption by presenting data in a fashion that is easy to understand with the proper documentation.
  • Manage detailed plans on projects to ensure successful completion of projects.
  • Align business needs, timelines and department standards by working with cross-functional teams.
  • Create test plans and scenarios and conduct testing to ensure quality and requirements traceability to final deliverable.
  • Actively identify solutions to enhance the existing Business Intelligence infrastructure processes and technology.
  • Promote efficiency among the BI group by maintaining metadata dictionaries and report definitions.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members and take responsibility as a subject matter expert.
  • Continuously improve the practice of BI by identifying areas of improvements and leveraging industry best practices and guiding teams.
  • Mitigate risks by understanding and evaluating cross-functional and system-to-system impacts of requirements and change requests.
  • Liaison among the business, development and support teams to ensure solutions being developed meet or exceed business needs.
  • Perform additional duties related to this position as assigned.
Required keys for success:
  • Seven or more years of relevant technical or business work experience.
  • Prior experience and passion for leveraging data to drive significant business impact.
  • Advanced statistical knowledge and intuition ideally utilized in A/B or multivariate testing or related analytics.
  • Expert SQL skills.
  • Experience with reporting/BI tools.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to speak to large groups.
  • Sound critical thinking abilities in data analysis and process.
  • Detail-oriented and attention to quality.
  • Solid team and relationship building skills.
  • Team leadership and project management skills with ability to lead and mentor.
  • Proven prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • History of understanding complex business processes and rules to gain business acumen.
  • Understanding of BI data modeling concepts, such as Star or Snowflake Schema, dimensions and facts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective written and spoken English communication skills with all levels of an organization.
How you will stand out from the crowd:
  • History of using data visualization standards and techniques to visually summarize data and insights.
  • Familiar with reporting and BI tools, such as MicroStrategy and Terradata.
  • Working knowledge of Internet of Things or Smart Cities.
  • Familiar with Spectrum Enterprise product solutions and network offerings.
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Creative, out of the box, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Proficient in Powerpoint, SmartSheet, Word and other productivity tools.
  • Experience in researching and building competitive matrices.
  • Prior experience working with sales focused teams and building presentations for both internal and external audiences.
  • Knowledge and experience with the public sector clients.
  • Hands on experience with Salesforce.com.
Your education:
  • Bachelors degree in economics, mathematics or business administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (required).
