Eaton’s eMobility Division is currently seeking a Lead Controls Software Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Southfield, MI location. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Eaton’s eMobility segment is collaborating with companies around the globe to innovate the transportation technologies of the future, creating efficient vehicles that travel faster, farther, higher and safer at a lower overall cost to the consumer and the environment.

In this function you will:

+ Keep abreast in hybrid/electric and power electronics software technologies. Work with internal and external customers to provide innovative and valuable embedded controls software solutions to their vehicle platforms.

+ Take systems approach and establish product software requirements, manage risk in controls software designs, develop software test criteria and ensure software product reliability.

+ Create technical documentation including software requirements, theory of operations, software validation plans and user manuals.

+ Define software architecture and interface requirements at component level in compliance with AUTOSAR and ISO-26262 standards.

+ Support software architect in developing strategies for AUTOSAR integration to developed model-based application software components, RTE, model generated code and basic software.

+ Develop embedded software following MISRA coding standards and MAAB standards.

+ Support software project lead in developing software plan, customer milestones, effort estimates and testing requirements.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science

+ Minimum of five (5) years’ software development experience in model-based application controls design such as motor controls, torque management and diagnostics using embedded C/C++ programming languages.

+ Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with AUTOSAR and/or MATLAB-Simulink based design using standard tools and methodologies in compliance with ISO-26262 and ASPICE.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master of Science degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science with focus on controls system design.

+ Working experience of developing software work products in compliance with AUTOSAR and ASPICE standards a plus.

+ Power electronics software design for electric and hybrid electric vehicle systems experience (switch-mode power supplies, DC/DC converters, motor drives, inverters, etc.)

+ Working experience with complex automotive project test setup such as dyno’s and HIL testing.

+ Knowledge of AUTOSAR integration to various application software components, RTE, model generated ARXML and basic software.

+ Developing software following MISRA coding standards and MAAB standards

+ Working experience with IBM tool chain (Doors-NG, RTC, Rhapsody) JAZZ a plus

+ Experience with Multi-core, Pre-emptive Real-Time Operating Systems and vehicle communication protocols such as CAN/CAN-FD, SPI, LIN and test tools (ETAS/INCA, CANape, CANalyzer, etc.)

+ Working experience in cross-functional team organization and globally distributed engineering teams.
