Wells Fargo India enables global talent capabilities for Wells Fargo Bank NA., by supporting business lines and staff functions across Technology, Operations, Risk, Audit, Process Excellence, Automation and Product, Analytics and Modeling. We are operating in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai locations.

Department Overview

The India Corporate Risk Team provides best in class risk management practices to enhance credit and market risk management, executing on key initiatives and processes across products and lines of business (LOBs).

The Risk Modeling Team is a unit within Corporate Risk and is responsible for Credit Risk model development and implementation. The team develops Credit and PPNR (Pre-Provision Net Revenue) models which are used to support the Allowance for Credit Loss (including Current Expected Credit Loss), to estimate risk weighted assets (RWA) in compliance with Basel regulations, and to support the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) exercise.

About the Role:

Primary role of the Credit Risk Analytics Officer in the Commercial team is to support the d
ata preparation and modeling for regulatory models (Basel, Loss Allowance, CCAR Stress Testing and CECL/IFRS9). The role involves applying business knowledge, analytics and advanced programming skills to serve as a data subject matter expert and consultant to the modeling, production and business stakeholders.


  • Support data preparation, model development and model implementation of PPNR models

  • Underlying portfolio research and model analytics using strong programming skills.

  • Enhance the data preparation and modeling process to incorporate new requirements, and handle upstream changes. Perform reconciliations between data sources and perform quality checks to ensure the data integrity

  • Detailed documentation on model documents and data processes

  • Identify opportunities and deliver process improvements, standardization, rationalization and automations. Develop dynamic dashboards for data visualization.

  • Adhere to audit and model validation governance to ensure data and processes are in compliance with policy and are working as intended, address model validation and regulatory feedback issues

  • Coherently support analysis for modeling teams and other users such as model validation, internal audit

  • Ability to work overlap hours with US team

Essential Qualifications:

  • Overall experience around 8-12 years in similar role

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, or computer sciences

  • Good Problem Solving and Analytical Skills

  • 5+ years of data management, data analytics, modeling or reporting experience.

  • 5+ years of advanced programming expertise in SAS, or Python. High Proficiency in SQL programming (SQL Server or Oracle or Teradata), and data extraction via ODBC from different platforms.

  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional groups

Market Skills and Certifications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Exposure to banking domain in Credit Risk area on Retail/Commercial portfolio
  • Understanding of bank regulatory data sets, and other industry data sources
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Detail oriented, results driven, and has the ability to navigate in a quickly changing and high demand environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to research and report on a variety of issues using problem solving skills
