Title: Scientist I/II, Mass Spectrometry & Analytical Development

Job Description:

We are seeking a Scientist to join the Technical Operations Group and primarily be responsible for conducting mass spectrometry and assay development activities. In addition, this role will support our pre-clinical programs with the continued development of our technology platform. The individual should have extensive experience with protein mass spectrometry and developing and performing in vitro assays and protein characterization experiments.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and perform protein-characterizing mass spectrometry experiments with an emphasis on intact mass, glycosylation analysis, and peptide mapping experiments
  • Plan and execute experiments in the areas of protein analytics, mechanism of action, and ELISA assays
  • Preparation of technical documents for transfer to Contract Manufacturer for analytics during GMP manufacturing
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Preclinical Immunology group to QC test articles prior to further in vitro and in vivo testing
  • Contribute scientifically to the growing knowledge base of the technology platform
  • Develop and execute detailed SOP's that can be readily transferred to outside partners and document experiments in a lab notebook
  • Present at team meetings and across company as needed to drive studies and inform on protein expression and purification progress
  • Support ongoing operation of lab, including managing lab supplies as needed


  • Masters/Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related life sciences discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in industry or academia, with an emphasis on protein LC-MS, assay development, and characterizing proteins
  • Knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and running LC-MS equipment independently or with assistance
  • Experience with Thermo Fisher Q-Exactive LC-MS is highly preferred
  • Experience with ELISA assays is highly preferred
  • Expert at solving technical challenges in protein characterization and assay development
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills required to identify and resolve issues
  • Eagerness to work with a first-in-class technology platform and developing new assays as needed
  • Ability to work independently in the laboratory and in cross-functional teams
  • Values and establishes effective interpersonal relationships companywide
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a small, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly adjust to shifting project demands and priorities
  • Good oral, written communication, and presentation skills
