The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Boeing Space & Launch Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Senior Propulsion System Integration and Analysis Engineer in Huntsville, AL or Houston, TX. The Space Launch System (SLS) program (primary program supported), in conjunction with NASA, is developing the nation's capability in manned access to space, including destinations beyond Earth orbit.

This position will perform detailed propulsion integration and analysis to meet commitments on Space Launch System (SLS). The work scope will include support to Core Stage 1 launch operations, Core Stage 2 manufacturing and integration, Thrust Vector Control System modernization, Exploration Upper Stage analysis, test, and integration.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems

  • Leads definition, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle

  • Leads development of specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements

  • Leads configuration and design of propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria

  • Leads the use of various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance

  • Leads the definition and performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components

  • Leads support of fielded systems by developing responses to customer queries and providing technical recommendations

  • Leads development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.

  • Works under minimal direction

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in  Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry

  • 9+ years of experience in rocket propulsion

  • 5+ years of experience with propulsion system components, interfaces and their design/integration variables, within aerospace vehicles

  • 5+ years of experience with propulsion system design/integration

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience working on propulsion systems to include cryogenic & pneumatic delivery systems

  • Experience on space, launch vehicle, and/or aircraft programs

  • Experience in NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
