**Sr Sourcing Specialist - low volume categories**


Conducts complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply base; applies analysis to sourcing process improvement initiatives. Identifies qualified suppliers and executes sound source selection processes. Has regular interface with suppliers within area of responsibility and maintains the supplier relationship. Understands how key purchasing principles are used toward assuring supply. Sources specialized items and executes complex sourcing strategies in accordance with agreed upong sourcing strategy / plans at the optimum cost, quality and relationship.

Independently carries out sourcing activities with full consideration for the impact of those activities on the end-to-end supply chain.

Executes sourcing tactics of varying complexity in accordance with established category/commodity strategies reflecting the optimum cost, quality, delivery.

Participates in sourcing and category commodity strategy formulation.

Analyzes complex sourcing and purchasing initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost effective and high quality goods and services.

Prepares and presents to senior purchasing/sourcing leadership recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action.

Ensures consistent application of sourcing procedures and processes.

Supports purchasing/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building.

May lead a team of sourcing analysts and specialists at the business unit category and/or international purchasing organization (IPO) regional level.

Leads analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced analysts and specialists.

Negotiates select contracts.

Develops and maintains effective relationships with suppliers to the benefit of both parties.

Understands the importance of compliance and is alert to situations that can pose risk to Cummins Inc.

Category Strategy Development - Establishes category strategy using Total Value Performance approach to define the Supply Base and Technology Strategy to meet all current and future Cummins' needs; manages risk and inclusion of diverse suppliers.

Sourcing - Utilizes the purchasing functional system to support the Request For Quote process and establish a Total Cost of Ownership comparison of suppliers based on the category strategy and define the supplier that is most likely to meet Cummins and customer's needs.

Purchasing Policies, Procedures, Tools - Complies with purchasing policies and procedures and complies with them in daily work; leverages tools to conduct procurement initiatives; assesses documents for clarification and seeks guidance for clarification of the information needed.

Supplier Contract Development - Creates contracts to cover commercial and legal relationship between Cummins and supplier; incorporates commercial requirements and laws of regions, drive consensus amongst stakeholders and develops a mutually agreed and legally approved contract created using a Direct Supplier Supply Agreement (DSA) and the C-Review Process and Negotiations Excellence skill.

Cost Management - Establishes and controls product and service costs using functional tools to deliver and track product and services at competitive prices; ensures competitiveness of Cummins products in our markets while preserving desired margins.

Supplier Relationship Management - Manages strategic supplier using agreed process with established work plan, senior sponsor meetings, and scorecards; defines and evaluates a collaborative relationship with a Category Partners List supplier to deliver value to Cummins and the supplier.

Intellectual Property Management - Assures protection of Cummins Intellectual Property within the supply base and partners with suppliers to optimize the use of their intellectual property for Cummins future competitive advantage by engaging the legal function; assures appropriate separation of Cummins' inventors from Supplier Intellectual Property to avoid Intellectual Property poisoning that could inhibit Cummins' ability to freely invent.

**Education, Licenses, Certifications**

College, university, or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.


Intermediate level of related work experience required

+ Support aftermarket purchasing/ sourcing activities for global components aftermarket in capacity of Sr sourcing specialist (scope with 10,000 aftermarket parts and $50 million in annual spend.).

+ Influence cross functional teams (engineering, marketing, materials) and core category teams to establish/ develop processes manage aftermarket long term supply continuity for various categories as agreed with leadership

+ develop low volume suppliers/ partners for low volume/ EOL parts, create MOUs and contracts to ensure LT supply continuity and create and capture value for SPT sourcing.

+ Own and support cost reduction initiatives as directed by leadership for the categories

+ Presently there is gap in terms of lack of process / no processes in terms of managing intercompany ownership, Engineering release managements, handover as service only. Lot of known things on processes, systems and cross functional nature of work makes this work complex. Getting alignment with internal and external stakeholders on supply continuity strategy.

+ Support for developing suppliers for non-branded newly released parts

+ Increase customer satisfaction is a big task in aftermarket. Own & lead the no source efforts to resolve part issues that have high back order line days and back order dollar amounts. Work closely with materials to manage demand, while keeping supplier capacity under control

+ Guide SS/ Admins on resolving sourcing issues at PDCs. This can include supplier packaging issues, capacity issues, materials inventory, part deviation/supersession issues, etc.
