Requisition Number: S_211005 Department: Eastern NE Rsch & Ext Center-9750 Description of Work: Under faculty guidance, design and test multi-variate nitrogen-related on-farm research hypotheses utilizing precision-ag technologies.  Duties include working with Nebraska farmers across the state to identify and utilize relevant geospatial data and tools, establish and coordinate prescriptions and field experiment protocols, modify protocols based on farm-specific variables, and analyze and publish data as well as resultant nitrogen-related best practices for specific agricultural sectors and variables. Other duties include maintaining data repositories and establishing geospatial data management conventions according to best practices; managing, organizing, and combining data from various disparate sources; research existent precision nutrient management recommendation systems; and hire/train seasonal workers. See: Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geographic information science, computer science, agronomy or related field. One year of training/experience in GIS and remote sensing. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Experience with GIS -related and precision ag-related software (e.g., ArcMap, AgLeader SMS ), data management, and data analysis. Ability to identify and concatenate data from several disparate sources. Experience must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in geographic information science, computer science, agronomy or related field. Experience developing and testing executable prescription for field trials. Experience with R, Python, or SAS software. Experience presenting research to academic and non-academic audiences and readers. Posted Salary: $46,687 minimum Job Type: Full-Time
