Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

Investment Portfolio

The Wells Fargo Investment Portfolio (IP) manages the Company’s Available-For-Sale (AFS) and Held-To-Maturity (HTM) securities and loan portfolios, and the Reinsurance and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) businesses as part of the Finance group. IP also provides strategic and analytical balance sheet support to the bank, as well as a centralized, street-facing trade execution and hedging function for the enterprise. 

The Investment Portfolio consists of:

  • Credit Investment Portfolio (CIP): Responsible for the evaluation of credit-driven investment opportunities across a broad spectrum of corporate bonds, notes, loans, Municipal bonds, CLOs, and other asset backed securities
  • Macro Investment Portfolio (MIP): Responsible for maintaining a portfolio of fixed income investments to achieve liquidity, interest rate risk management, and capital management objectives on behalf of Corporate Asset/Liability Committee
  • Portfolio Strategy, Analytics, and Infrastructure (PSAI): Centrally manages IP’s analytics, including stress testing, sensitivity analytics, and optimizing investment decision making within capital, liquidity, and risk management constraints
  • Trading: Street-facing trading desk with the ability to offer coordinated execution of all cash and derivatives trades for the portfolio, as well as for other key partners within Wells Fargo
  • Reinsurance and Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) businesses and a central business application team

The PSAI team binds a collection of groups whose core functions involve investment analytics, process integration, and reporting on key areas pertinent to the Investment Portfolio.  We are seeking a Portfolio Analytics Consultant 2 to join PSAI’s Strategic Initiatives team.  

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the production of complex analytics and reporting to facilitate team deliverables, including income and valuation forecasts, strategy analysis, stress testing, loss forecasting and liquidity contributions
  • Support execution of control functions for analytic processes, including preparation of internal review materials. Interface with second and third line of defense teams including Finance Risk Management, Model Risk and Audit
  • Maintain and enhance PSAI's analytics infrastructure, including legacy tools and applications as necessary, in preparation for migrating to IP's new Advanced Data and Analytics (ADA) platform
  • Support projects and analysis that involve working with multiple functions and teams across PSAI and IP, along with other Finance functions including Capital Management, Liquidity Risk Management, and Asset Liability Management
  • Support model lifecycle activities including model development, testing, documentation, model risk finding remediation and performance monitoring

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of portfolio analysis experience, finance experience or a combination of both

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

Other Desired Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of fixed-income products including mortgage backed securities, structured products, municipal bonds, interest rate swaps and US Treasury bonds
  • Prior experience analyzing, modeling, valuing and forecasting fixed income securities across multiple asset classes and scenarios
  • Experience with model risk governance and/or model validation in the financial services sector 
  • Strong analytical ability accompanied with impeccable reputation for integrity, accuracy, consistency, big picture orientation and business acumen
  • Passion for researching complex issues, distilling information into concise presentations and offering actionable resolutions
  • Solid understanding of financial mathematics and models 
  • Experience with third party fixed income models (e.g. PolyPaths, QRM, ADCo, Bloomberg, Calypso)
  • Programming ability in R, Python or SQL and familiarity with data science or similar programming/database experience

  • Ability to provide and work from a home office
  • Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
  • Position Hours: Monday - Friday (as early as 7 am and as late as 6 pm ).
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours
