Non-Tenure Track Faculty 6165BR National Technical Institute for the Deaf NTID Science and Mathematics Faculty Type (Tenure Status): Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer Faculty Discipline: Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics Faculty Rank: Lecturer Employment Category: Fulltime Anticipated Start Date: 10-Aug-2022 Detailed Job Description The Department of Science and Mathematics at the National Institute for the Deaf (NTID) is seeking to fill a 9-month lecturer (non-tenure-track) faculty position in the field of statistics. The successful candidate will: Provide tutoring support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students enrolled in baccalaureate-level statistics courses; Provide direct instruction in statistics to deaf and hard-of hearing students in associate and baccalaureate-level degree programs; Provide tutoring and/or direct instruction in mathematics where instructor workload and background permits and department need necessitates; Already be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) as determined by the college sign language proficiency rating system and will use ASL to teach and tutor; Fulfill other faculty expectations including those related to service, communication, and diversity. Required Minimum Qualifications Masters degree in statistics, applied statistics, data science, mathematics, or a related field in the statistical, computational, or mathematical sciences; such applicants must be able to demonstrate a focus on statistics in their graduate work. Applications will also be considered from applicants who hold a bachelors degree in one of these fields, with an emphasis on statistics, and a masters degree in deaf education or a related field. Candidates who are in the final stages of completing a masters degree in any of these fields will be considered but must have completed all degree requirements by the first day of contract to be hired. Prior teaching and/or tutoring experience (including graduate teaching assistantship work and/or student teaching) in statistics or a related field. Proficiency in American Sign Language.
