Job Summary

The Excess and Surplus Lines (E&S) team acts as an intermediary between the agent and the insurance company, assisting the agent at multiple levels. The team markets risk to carrier partners on behalf of agents using a combination of automation and direct carrier placement. At various levels, sales skills, knowledge of risks and the E&S insurance markets are used to find and arrange suitable insurance policies and arrange coverage. The team is responsible for developing and managing underwriting authority (the “pen”) for direct carrier appointments. The team is accountable for ensuring that processes meet the needs of agents and various other internal and external stakeholders, including expanded market vendors and state regulatory authorities

The E&S Senior Associate provides day-to-day consultation and support to agency owners and customers who participate in Ivantage’s expanded market programs and assists with projects to drive continuous process improvements of the E&S Team. The role is responsible for strict adherence to multiple state compliance regulations. The role demonstrates the ability to understand surplus lines regulatory and operational guidelines across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

Program Consulting & Service
  • Transact surplus lines regulatory filings with strict adherence to multiple state regulations
  • Maintain current understanding of E&S products, services, and processes both within and outside the department
  • Performs policy service functions which include the processing of new business, endorsements, cancellations, and renewal services.
  • Provides exceptionalservice to agency owners and policyholders related to Expanded Market E&S programs
  • Meets daily performance standards and adherence to E&S compliance regulations
  • Resolves issues of basic to moderate complexity using judgment, decision making, creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Participates in calling campaigns to increase agent awareness regarding Ivantage programs
  • Learns new programs quickly

Compliance Support
  • Uses prudent judgment in every day interactions to uphold Ivantage Anti-trust requirements (not sharing competitor information with Allstate), licensing requirements (decipher if a licensed professional is required to handle an inquiry), and producer licensing and enrollment requirements


  • College Degree and/or prior surplus lines experience preferred
  • Must hold an active P&C license as well as a Surplus lines license.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in customer service related field required
  • Prior experience in insurance, agency or brokerage experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Problem solving aptitude for handling issues real-time
  • Basic project management ability
  • Thrives in changes with an adaptable/nimble work style
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Compensation Data

Compensation range for this position is $33,200 - 50,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
