Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is recruiting a Lead Aerodynamics Stability and Control Engineer in the St. Louis, MO area.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Aerodynamics Engineer to perform aerodynamics statement of work for new product design, development and integration projects in the areas of Fixed Wing Aircraft and/or Missile Systems.

The Flight Engineering Capability supports the business in all aspects of the product life cycle with aerodynamic engineering design, analysis, testing, integration, demonstration and certification. This position will serve as a member of a technical team of engineers in the areas of aerodynamic performance, stability and control, and/or weapon separation in the design and analysis of flight vehicles and their components.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads, plans and performs aerodynamic/aero thermodynamic design and analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets requirements.

  • Plans, leads and performs Wind Tunnel development tests

  • Integrates computational fluid dynamic results with stability and control databases

  • Leads the development of new and improving existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost.

  • Plans, conducts, coordinates and/or develops test requirements and evaluates test results to ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Trains and coaches others.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which

the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 7+ years of experience in aerodynamics, stability and control engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Flight Test experience

  • Simulation modeling

  • Wind tunnel experience

  • Experience with Flight manuals

  • Mission analysis experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
