Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The Career Advisor serves as a career advisor for university students and student organizations. The Generalist Career Advisor is an integral member of the Weston Career Center team that serves as a career advisor for Specialized Master program business degree candidates and works with Olin and university students and student organizations.  Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Serves as one on one career advisor and subject matter expert to approximately 170-200 SMP degree candidates. Building and developing relationships with students to (a) understand their career needs and (b) steward them through the career preparation process.   Determines additional resources are required for each student and guide them to other resources, within WCC and beyond, to prepare them for technical aspects of interviews (industry directors, specialist coaches, platform leads, etcâ¦). Identifies individual needs, goals, challenges for career path. Reviews each student skills and abilities, determine and develop tailored action plans to help students on career journey   (identifying interests, gaining skills capabilities, networking, etc). Analyzes student self-assessments and translate them into actionable insight & next steps. Determines other skills, etc., required to ensure students are ready, and deliver actionable feedback on studentsâ™ career and preparation process.    Provides recommendations regarding studentsâ™ readiness for interviews with employers. Facilitates career development content in Management Communications and Practica courses including but not limited to activity design, assignment evaluation and partnering with faculty and academic advisors to deliver content. Partners with academic advisors of personal or career issues that may affect assigned studentsâ™ academic journey. Informs industry directors /specialized coaches of unique or technical needs and challenges of assigned students advising and leadership initiatives. General academic, program, and university support including but not limited to assisting with program initiatives, limited presentations and other university wide initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Masterâ™s degree in higher education, business, or in a related field. Experience with advising students in career advising. Experience of working with students groups/related organizations. Experience working with ESL speakers. Commitment to designing and delivering excellent career development and advising services. Strong interpersonal skills, strong relationship building skills. Ability to work in a matrix organization across/within groups. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary. Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required by department. Required Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree plus one year of work experience (including part time graduate assistantship) in higher education setting or related role. Grade G10 Salary Range $45,800.00 - $75,900.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
