Eaton’s eMobility Division is currently seeking a Thermal Management Specialist to join our team. This position is based at our Southfield, MI facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Position Overview:

The Thermal Management Specialist will conceptualize, manage the design, development, testing, technical documentation, and launch of the thermal system for new products and extensions to existing product lines.

In this function you will:

+ Drive and participate in requirements evaluation, design reviews and other team development processes.

+ Ensure Eaton stays abreast of new and emerging thermal technologies and materials

+ Lead the thermal product specification, design, and development of new and innovative products.

+ Support the customer technical discussions and presentations

+ Support the conduction of thermal testing of all new products in accordance with Eaton standards and customer requirements.

+ Lead the conduction of thermal root cause analysis on all thermal related failures and brainstorm and implement countermeasures.

+ Support the launch new products following a formal stage-gate process.

+ Investigate and evaluate new thermal materials and their appropriate use within our product line.

+ Review and conduct computer-based thermal CFD analysis on new products to ensure their integrity and use the results to optimize designs.

+ Manage suppliers and ensure the release and delivery of components that meet defined specifications.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required

+ Minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience

+ Minimum of two (2) years of thermal design experience

+ OR PhD in Engineering with a focus in thermal engineering from an accredited institution required

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master’s Degree preferred.

+ Experience simulating and optimizing liquid cooling paths for conflicting requirements

+ Experience with a variety of thermal cooling solutions including liquid cooling, immersion cooling, heat sinks, and natural convection

+ Strong technical understanding of a variety of thermal interface materials

+ Strong technical understanding of design and processing of metals and plastics

+ High level understanding of packaging and mounting constraints

+ Experience creating and using DFMEA, DRBFM and 8D in the development process

+ Experience with GD&T

+ Experience packaging Printed Circuit Boards

+ Stamped busbar and electrical contact system design

+ Experience with SolidWorks, ProE, NX, Unigraphix, CATIA

+ Experience and expertise with CFD software

+ Experience with DFx practices: Manufacturing, Test, Repair, Quality.

+ Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically
