Job Description

The position is required to triage Oracle ILOM firmware and UEFI on Oracle server hardware. As a firmware/software engineer, you will work with the latest server processors, chipsets, memory subsystems, and more. You will be working closely with processor and component vendors as well as other Oracle experts in operating systems, electrical design/validation, diagnostics, and quality engineering. Our engineers participate in every stage from server design, prototyping, development, and debugging through manufacturing and customer support.

The successful candidate will work in product development and sustaining organization initially and eventually the candidate will be in devops role supporting Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong C and Python Programming Language skills.
  • Strong understanding of OS kernel knowledge.
  • 7+ years in firmware development experience.
  • Ability to debug using hardware debuggers, software debuggers, consoles, utilities (system level software simulator).
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to adopt a changing environment.
  • Must be a team player.

  • Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated critical and creative thinking.
  • Ability to work under guidance and direction from senior engineers.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • x86 architecture and UEFI.
  • Familiar with bus protocols such as PCIe.
  • Hands on hardware bring up experience.
  • Working closely with cross functional teams and with geographically distributed teammates toward execution on agreed project milestones and delivery dates
  • Development experience on Linux and Windows.

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

    As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

    Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
