The Role
This position will serve as the Head of External Engagement & Program Development and will develop external business specific programs and leverage resources and develop strategies that identify, attract, serve and retain new and growing relationships in customer segments inclusive of Asian, African American, Latin, Women & LGBTQ.   

As a senior leader in our business, this role will have external client interaction at industry and Diverse Segment events representing WIM Diverse Segments and Wells Fargo.  Builds partnerships with HBCUs, multi-cultural agencies, community leaders, media and industry representatives to identify opportunities and develop campaigns and programs that improve trust and drive growth with diverse segments. Listens and understands the key interests and issues with key external stakeholders and leverages insights to influence strategy and create impactful solutions. Partners with other WIM Diverse Segment Leaders and leverages internal partnerships and resources to offer the full breadth of Wells Fargo’s resources to diverse segments


The Candidate
The successful candidates must have a strong understanding of business drivers and processes and be an effective influencer that has credibility with business leaders and able to offer credible challenge as needed.   This includes being action-oriented with demonstrated ability to bring about consensus in a highly matrixed environment and with external partners. This executive must have demonstrated experience in building strong external partnerships with a wide variety of audiences and be adept at creating innovate solutions that align to the needs of both the external groups and Wells Fargo’s vision & strategy.   This role is highly visible and will provide the executive with the opportunity to help transform WIM into a simpler, better, faster and more diverse future state.

A successful candidate will have a passion for learning at a rapid pace to quickly understand the complexities of the various products and capabilities, and to further understand the diverse customer needs and connectivity points with partners.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in a strategic, senior leadership role

Other Desired Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in a strategic, senior leadership role extensive relationship building and collaboration skills with external partners as well as internal stakeholders 
• 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of banking, capital markets or financial services
• Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships and business development initiatives with external partners and stakeholders
• Proven ability to influence without direct authority, build consensus and influence people at all levels of the organization and within the community
• Demonstrated ability to build trust with community and diverse segment audiences.
• Ability to create and manage large-scale change
• Extensive knowledge of Wealth and Investment Management business lines, products and services
• Demonstrated experience developing differentiated financial products and service offerings that are targeted to the various diverse customer segments
• Strong analytical skills and experience synthesizing complex findings into communications for a variety of target constituencies, including internal and external audiences
• Proven ability to drive culture change among client coverage teams by instilling confidence in the ability to drive better client outcomes and deliver a superior client experience through cross-WIM and cross-Enterprise partnerships
• Experience in relationship management and proven leadership skills, with conflict management, negotiation and organizational effectiveness techniques
• Demonstrated ability to manage effectively in a heavily matrixed organization with a high degree of initiative and strong ability to meet key responsibilities with limited direction and oversight
• Proven success recruiting, inspiring, developing, coaching and motivating team members through balanced leadership with a focus on engagement
• Ability to communicate powerfully and prolifically to senior and executive leaders
