Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a highly motivated and goal-oriented project geologist, scientist, or engineer to support our growing market in the remediation of PFAS-impacted media at multiple office locations, including: Twinsburg, OH, Oak Ridge, TN, and Earth City, MO.

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of activities including serving as PFAS Specialist and providing technical leadership and project/program execution oversight. Candidates will be highly motivated and detail oriented, with demonstrated experience in PFAS investigation and remediation projects, including field management, data interpretation and assessment, remedial design and remedial action implementation. Office/Geographic location is flexible, including telework status, if preferred.

Applicants should effectively communicate technical concepts via verbal and written presentations, implement innovative solutions that are consistent with project and regulatory objectives, and be comfortable working in a team environment with internal and external stakeholders. Strong organizational skills are essential.


+ Function as seller-doer, develop and maintain long-lasting and meaningful relationships with clients, as well as industry teaming partners.

+ Manage the collection of PFAS investigation data including multimedia sample results to meet project quality assurance requirements under Federal (e.g. CERCLA), state, and/or client programs (including PFOS, PFOA, GenX).

+ Understand and communicate risks to leadership and within project execution teams.

+ Support project team in development, analysis, and selection of soil and groundwater remedial alternatives and exit strategies.

+ Comply with Leidos and client Environmental Compliance and Health & Safety programs.

+ Willing and able to travel up to 30% to work locations with ability to pass background checks, obtain access to, and conduct work on, U.S. Government installations

Required Education & Experience:

+ BS or MS degree in Environmental Engineering or Science or related field.

+ Minimum 7 years of experience in the environmental restoration field, including 3 years of PFAS nature and extent investigation experience.

Required Skills:

+ Expertise in emerging PFAS technical guidance, health and regulatory issues, and impacts on DoD

+ Experience in project development and management (scope, budget, schedule).

+ Provide in-depth functional/technical expertise and broad business knowledge related to PFAS in data interpretation and analysis of chemical, geotechnical, geologic, and/or engineering data to address project/reporting requirements.

+ Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, proposal and presentation)

+ Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint).

+ Valid driver’s license.

Desired Skills:

+ Prior completion of OSHA 1910.120 hazardous waste worker certification (40-hour HAZWOPER) and OSHA occupational physical exam and medical clearance allowing performance of field work at hazardous waste sites).

+ Professional credential or progress toward obtaining certification in field of specialty (e.g., PE, PG, PMP, etc.)

+ Specialized skills/experience in an environmental technical area such as experience in a laboratory setting; familiarity with drinking water treatment, and public health; industry safety requirements and/or waste disposal methods; environmental statistical methods (e.g., trend analysis); environmental databases (e.g., data management); or commonly employed contaminant fate/transport models.
