About the Job
The WWPS Emergency Services team at RFAB has an immediate need for a Fire Protection Engineer System Owner (FPSO).  This person will be directly responsible for the fire system; design, installation and performance.  This person will work with the RFAB Facilities team to support all fire systems related needs, local AHJ interactions and building construction for RFAB.

Responsibilities include:

  • Read, comprehend, and interpret laws and legal documents pertaining to fire and life safety.
  • Ensure performance of piping, hydraulics, monitoring, devices, materials, equipment and operation associated with the fire system.
  • Work closely with the FPC to ensure system trouble shooting, maintenance, testing and design work.
  • Work as part of a team of TI’ers and manage contractors to support all fire protection system efforts for RFAB1 and RFAB2 ramp efforts.
  • Directly responsible for design and engineering support for systems expansions, modifications and new installations, including:
    • Review plans, blueprints, equipment, standards, chemical inventories and processes to ensure compliance with safety requirements.  Conduct inspections on construction sites and existing occupancies to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local fire codes, regulations and TI standards.  Review, evaluate, process, and maintain a variety of files related to fire prevention activities.  Work with local municipalities to research, prepare, and issue fire and life safety notices, permits, and correction letters that outline compliance issues and deficiencies.  Assist representatives of public agencies, consultants, and other employees with technical inquiries.
  • Schedule needed repairs and validate completion.
  • Inspect planned work and project activity.
  • Use 5S principles to keep the building/site safe, clean and well-maintained
  • Attend meetings as appropriate such as Fab Operations meetings, Work Permit meetings, building planning meetings, etc.
  • Utilize existing databases for coordinating and tracking work; for example, SAMS, STARS and FMS.
  • Able to lead projects and manage costs, including providing supervision to TI and contract labor. For example, fire suppression installation of foam and wet-systems in RFAB2 Bulk Chemical Yard (BCY).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in fire protection engineering or related degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
