International Operations Business Director

Responsible for managing the overall implementation and management of the organization’s global operations through its multiple evolutions of growth and expansion.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creates a strategic, systematic plan to improve operations and processes that create operational efficiencies and drive more savings.
  • Ensures International leadership has the US Anthem support it needs to run its operations smoothly.
  • Ensures a successful start, stabilization and continued operations of the Anthem International Operations (AIO)
  • Partnering with business towers (ie: Primarily business operations support functions, some IT application development, etc) to develop transition plans and make strategic decisions
  • Work with our supplier partners to secure rebadged FTE and/or training/transition support
  • Working with finance, the business towers and corporate support to stay within the business case budget
  • Ensuring Legato leadership has the US Anthem support it needs to run its operations smoothly.
  • Will facilitate the setup and operation of future global locations

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Anthem International Operations (AIO) program from start up through completion and through scope and location expansion
  • Ensuring workstream leads are following through with planned deliverables to achieve timely goals that are tied to financial models.
  • Pulling in the necessary support from various departments to fill any gaps needed to fulfill a key milestone pertinent to the AIO and Legato
  • Engage suppliers and negotiate their support of our AIO ramp
  • Develop organizational capabilities that ensures Anthem serves its customers
  • Identify areas of risk, document them and take corrective steps, including timely escalation, to raise stakeholder awareness and drive risk mitigation action
  • Develop lessons learned and apply best practices to future locations and new business towers joining Legato
  • Create a strategic, systematic plan to improve operations and processes that create operational efficiencies and drive more savings
  • Identify and drive action for continuous improvement and cost efficiency
  • Ensuring staffing model supports current and future capacity planning needs, including both internal and external resources
  • Provide communication to stakeholders of program’s progress, issues and overall health



  • Requires a BA/BS in a related field and minimum of 7 years experience in diverse roles such as Procurement, Vendor Management, Project Management, Global Delivery, and Operations; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or other advanced degree
  • Strong communications skills, Excel skills for ramp plan management, PowerPoint skills with ability to present to leaders and influence decisions at all levels of the organization
  • Cross-functional perspective and experience with complex business issues and operations; end to end execution
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; tactical execution
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, demanding, customer-first environment
  • Results-driven, high attention to detail and produces high quality work products
