Title: Software Engineer III

GTASC is a growing department within the Global Banking and Markets Technology division at Bank of America who are responsible for Architecture, Technology Strategy and Core Shared platforms used across the businesses technology groups supporting Global Banking and Markets (GBAM) business, Enterprise Risk and Finance Business (ERFT) and Support Partners (i.e. Operations, Middle Office, and Finance). Tech 4 Tech is one of the departments responsible for delivery of common concerns across the GBAM/ERFT organizations by delivering solutions that reduce operational risk through automation and facilitate the creation of accurate and effective financial and regulatory reporting through scale, highly available, feature rich platform offerings.

Job Description:
A Software Engineer III is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the role include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. This role ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. These individuals possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to story refinement/defining requirements.
  • Participate and guide team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.
  • Assist team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
  • Design/develop/modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained.
  • Design/develop/maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
  • Set up and develop a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Automate manual release activities.
  • Mentor other Software Engineers and coach team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack.

Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in JAVA development
  • Spring, Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Batch
  • HTML 5, CSS, Bootstrap
  • JS Web Development such as Angular or React
  • Source code management Git/Bitbucket, and others.
  • Build automation and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment using tools like Jenkins, Ansible Tower and others

Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of build tools and processes like Maven, Ant and others
  • Experience in using RDBMS/SQL Familiarity and Exposure to Oracle and SQL Server
  • Openshift, Docker or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs
  • Testing methods and tools - Junit, Mockito and Karma
  • Understanding of microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux Shell Scripting
  • Workflow (BPMN - Camunda)
