Requisition Number: 2021-342 Business Unit: College of Allied Health Professions Department: Physical Therapy Education 50000729 Reg-Temp: Full-Time Regular Position Summary: The Physical Therapy Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center ( UNMC ) in the College of Allied Health Professions Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is seeking a dynamic faculty member with an emphasis in research.  This faculty position involves some teaching and service, but is primarily focused on scholarly activity and research with an option for clinical practice in accordance with UNMC and CAHP policies and procedures. Workloads and duties may be negotiated from time to time with the Program Director of Physical Therapy Education.     This position is a 12-month Health Professions appointment with the opportunity to make application for tenure. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is located in Omaha, Nebraska and reports to the Director of Physical Therapy Education.   The UNMC is a world-renowned academic health science center with a strong reputation in academics, research and clinical care.  The UNMC Physical Therapy Program has been a leader in innovative instruction, advancements in research, and engagement in professional service and clinical care since its inception 50 years ago.    The Program has an excellent reputation for training Doctors of Physical Therapy ( DPT ) with a robust foundation in evidence-based practice along with strong clinical reasoning skills that prepare graduates to work on interprofessional teams.  Additional educational programming opportunities offered consist of a Clinical Residency in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, a developing Masters in Rehabilitation Sciences for international students, and continuing education offerings. The current 17 core faculty in the Physical Therapy Program are experienced researchers and clinicians who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the classroom and student labs.    It is the responsibility of the faculty member during their time of employment to: ·         Maintain memberships in the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. ·         Retain an unencumbered PT license in the state of Nebraska. ·         Travel to our Kearney, NE campus from Omaha, NE for teaching, scholarly activity/research and/or service activities as well as for designated Physical Therapy Education and the College of Allied Health events approximately 2-4 times per year.   Research/Scholarly Activity: ·         Build a successful research/scholarly activity agenda in line with the program's mission with external grant funding. ·         Mentor graduate and professional students participating in or collaborating with the faculty's scholarly agenda.    Education/Teaching: ·         Teach physical therapy content in your area of expertise such as neurologic, cardiopulmonary, integumentary practice, or clinical anatomy at the entry-level or graduate level.   ·         Mentor and advise students. Work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators and colleagues in team-taught courses. Service/Administration:  Engage with students, faculty, staff, administrators and colleagues in service and governance activities for the Program, College, University, community and profession.    Clinical Practice: ·         Optional, to be negotiated.   Faculty are supported through the UNMC and CAHP career development programs in multiple domains. The premier Faculty Development Office and Interprofessional Academy of Educators offer mentorship opportunities for faculty at any stage of their career.  The campus also houses a staffed state-of-the-art recording and production studio to assist faculty in creating digital learning products, research recruitment, and dissemination media.  The Davis Global Center has cutting-edge simulation technology, resources and personnel dedicated to assisting in the development of interactive technologies.    The research resources available on campus to assist novice to experienced researchers are outstanding.  There is a dedicated Clinical Research Center, staffed with research nurses and a core laboratory to assist faculty researchers with clinically-based inpatient and outpatient studies.  Faculty have access to the Clinical and Translational Research Support fund for acquiring pilot data for grant submissions, and access to numerous Core Facilities across multiple University of Nebraska campuses. The UNMC Center for Collaboration on Research Design and Analysis ( CCORDA ), provides expertise in the quantitative sciences, including planning, analysis, and interpretation of findings.  There are numerous collaborative opportunities across our academic health sciences campus along with mentoring in research career development. Required Qualifications: Position requirements Earned academic doctorate degree. ABD may be considered. Evidence of successful research/scholarly activity in line with the program's mission  An established or emerging track record of external grant funding preferred. Expertise in an area of contemporary physical therapy clinical practice   Experience teaching physical therapy related content (e.g., neurologic, cardiopulmonary, or integumentary practice, or clinical anatomy) at the entry-level or graduate level. Excellent interpersonal communication, organization and problem-solving skills Capable of working independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers Able to travel, as needed Supplemental Qualifications: US licensed and eligible for physical therapist licensure in the state of Nebraska, preferred Member of the American Physical Therapy Association, preferred Minimum of three years as a faculty member at a US accredited college or university preferred. Leadership position in a national or international education or physical therapy-related professional association  Salary Range: Salary Commensurate with Experience
