HJF is seeking a Fire Protection Specialist to support the Facilities Department located at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the Facilities Department.

The incumbent will serve as USUHS Fire protection and prevention subject matter expert and will coordinate on technical concerns between USUHS and NSAB's Fire Protection maintenance contractor.

NOTE: As a U.S. Government contractor, all HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8, 2021. Proof of vaccination or an approved religious or medical accommodation will be required.

Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate Fire alarm and Fire Protection System testing and inspection. (10%)
  2. Attends USU Life Safety program preconstruction activities and weekly project progress meetings as required. (5%)
  3. Drafts procedures and practices for managing USU Life Safety Program. (25%)
  4. Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of the Life Safety Program; conducts thorough reviews of inspections reports. (50%)
  5. Develops, prepares, and maintains detailed project reports. (10%)
  6. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The position is primarily responsible for serving as the USUHS Fire Protection & Prevention SME and will coordinate on technical concerns between USUHS and NSAB. In addition, this position will independently manage the Quality Assurance program for the Fire Protection Maintenance contract. This position will be responsible for implementing USUHS approved surveillance plans; reviewing design submissions, monitoring construction acceptance testing, monitoring and documenting contractor performance to ensure performance with predetermined technical requirements; supporting contract administration such as recommending action to the Facilities Department Director when performance deficiencies are encountered; ensuring that obligations under the contract such as furnishing supplies and equipment maintenance services are performed, and coordination work scheduling and problem resolution with NSAB's COR.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, planning, business management, or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum 3-5 years of experience required.

Work Arrangement: 100% on-site.

Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
