Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Study Manager for the Office of Human Research Services for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.  The primary purpose of the Research Study Manager is to establish workflows and processes to support high-quality clinical research activities for assigned Disease Specific Groups ( DSG ). This individual is responsible for planning, supervising and monitoring the daily work of all staff supporting the DSG clinical research efforts. Assures that all clinical research conducted within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey is according to Good Clinical Practice ( GCP ) guidelines as well as applicable Institutional, State and Federal regulations and guidelines. In addition, this position is responsible for meeting the goals and objectives established by the management team.  Among the key duties of this position are the following: Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day clinical research coordination operations as they relate to each assigned DSG .  Evaluates performance addressing both qualitative and quantitative aspects of performance; identifies strengths and areas that need improvement as indicated on written evaluation.  Performs abstraction of data from source records in human subject charts (i.e., laboratory or diagnostic test results, surgical/radiation treatments delivered, adverse drug reactions, Aria, etc.); abstraction of data from publications, or data collection from outside physician offices.   According to protocol guidelines, recruits and interviews human subjects for research studies, when requested. Collects and records all research data and ensures completeness of information.   Performs regular audits of the assigned team to ensure that the data collected is completed and accurate and to ensure that the research project, database or protocol is carried out as outlined.  Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelors' Degree in a social science or related field.  Three (3) to five (5) years of oncology research experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent organizational skills, be proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Oncore™), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to maximize resources and be resourceful.  Preferred Qualifications: One to two (1-2) years of supervisory experience in a clinical research environment.  Supervision in a unionized environment.  Physical Demands and Work Environment: Lifting up to 25 lbs.
