LPN Full Time - Immediate Hire

Performs assigned nursing duties within scope of practice for Medication Technician. Adheres to Brookdale Senior Living and State Corporate Compliance policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Documents information in resident records/charts in accordance with standards/policies/procedures.
  • Under direction of prescribers, performs prior authorizations process(es) for client prescriptions. Includes review of and entry in PCC-Point Click Care system as directed/instructed.
  • Performs all activities necessary to establish and maintain accurate, comprehensive storage, handling and control of all medications. Includes coordination with prescriber, completion and filing of all relevant documentation, communication and pharmaceutical companies, coordination with clinicians and clinical support staff. Includes receipt, unpacking, labeling, logging, tracking, inventorying of medications.
  • Provides direct care to residents applicable to care service plans and reporting all changes or concerns to direct supervisor, HWD - Health and Wellness Director.
  • Assists or supervises residents who self-administer medication. Following physician orders and state laws to administer medications to residents who cannot self-administer their medications.
  • Follows procedures in emergency situation and responds to pull cords, telephone calls and requests from family of residents. Knows location of each resident, reminds them to sign out if they leave building.
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
  • May assist in delivering meals to resident's apartments or with direct care; bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, grooming.
  • Supervises and works closely with resident care staff to maintain safety, compliance, process (es) procedures are followed.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of practical nursing procedures. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices. Knowledge of the human anatomy. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of residents. Ability to accurately record and communicate observations to Supervisor.

Experience in an Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing setting/environment.

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Licensure as an LPN by the NC Board of Nursing.

Qualifications

What it takes to be a Certified Med Aide/Tech at Brookdale:

Our Medication Aides/Techs assist seniors in maintaining physical, social and psychological well-being. Based on state regulations and completion of required training/certification, you will administer or assist with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider and observe/report responses to your supervisor. Med Aides/Techs also make sure the medication supply room is organized and clean, assist with medication cart audits, and provide accurate counts of all medications.
