Eaton’s Corporate Sector is currently seeking a Technology Manager to join our team.

The Technology Manager is responsible for:

Managing a team of scientists & engineers specializing in various technology areas that are part of the Energy Systems Technologies (ES) department. The principal goal includes the execution of the technology roadmaps and portfolio as it relates to North America region, including meeting the schedule, scope, cost and technical targets for all research and development efforts under his/her control, as well as developing and managing customer relationships with Eaton stakeholders and maintaining a sound business case for the projects under their direction. The technology manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the external technical community and academia and leveraging these partnerships for significant advancements in research in the area of intelligent machine systems as relevant for Eaton. Moreover, the candidate will provide leadership to the department in terms of guidance, coaching and development of the technical staff; selection and retention of employees; and administrative leadership for the department.

In this role you will:

+ Manage a team of scientists & engineers specializing in various technology areas that are part of the Energy Systems group.

+ Champion technology realization programs utilizing our internal project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews.

+ Direct the development of advanced technology projects, monitor achievements and review progress. Collaborate with Program Managers in the development of detailed project plans. Lead globally diverse cross-functional project teams effectively and manage selected projects under the guidelines of our internal stage-gate process and Agile methodology.

+ Monitor and report overall performance of responsible projects. Responsible for periodic Project Status Reports, Quarterly Reports and other reports using specified reporting processes.

+ Define, acquire, and upgrade as necessary lab/experimental infrastructure necessary to execute the projects. Support the team in the preparation of capital appropriation requests.

+ Implement policies and procedures on various functional specializations, such as EHS, finance, HR, corporate, and facilities related.

+ Foster an environment for creativity while promoting the generation of value-added intellectual property. Maintain and defend existing patents that cover the technology needs of the businesses.

+ Lead and develop employees. Fully utilize those resources to meet global objectives. Facilitate global communication and cooperation between locations, assign and manage workload to assure projects are adequately resourced.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or related field from an accredited institution required

+ Minimum of 7 years’ industrial or entrepreneurial experience

Technical knowledge:

+ Solid experience in intelligent dynamic systems, electro-mechanical systems and system modeling and optimization

+ Hands on development experience & expert knowledge of controls system and model-based design, development process and toolchains (digital prototyping).

+ Experience in program management, new product development & innovation process.

Soft skills:

+ Experience with proven track record in new technology development with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization.

+ Business acumen with proven record of formulating value proposition.

+ Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Manager of people experience

Technical knowledge:

+ Proven track record of delivering technology concepts into commercialization path.

+ Demonstrated expertise in some of the following areas: intelligent machine controls, advanced actuations, connected and intelligent systems, alternative power generation and distribution, machine learning, more electric concepts for vehicles and infrastructures and/or vehicle active powertrain controls.
