Requisition Number: 2021-335 Business Unit: College of Medicine Department: Radiation Oncology 50000653 Reg-Temp: Full-Time Regular Position Summary: The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is recruiting for two (2) full-time board certified/board eligible Radiation Oncologist positions.   This faculty position will physically work in Sioux City, Iowa, but as part of the UNMC Radiation Oncology faculty, be integrated into the existing faculty team for peer support, tumor boards, access to clinical trials, professional support and leadership.   A key component of this position is to contribute to the department's clinical and translational research mission. The primary clinical focus is to support the growing genitourinary oncology service. The department is in the process of adding a HDR prostate brachytherapy program. There is an active GU multidisciplinary clinic ( MDC ) which is supported by urology, medical and radiation oncology along with genetic counseling. A dedicated GU tumor board is associated with the GU MDC . Protected time for research and a research startup package is negotiable.    This individual would join 6 other full-time radiation oncologists, 8 full-time medical physicists, and 2 full-time cancer researchers. The department has accredited medical and medical physics residency programs. The main department is located in the new Fred and Pamela Cancer Center. This NCI facility was designed for translational research. It includes 98 research labs, 108 inpatient beds, 6 operating rooms including one that is used for intraoperative HDR brachytherapy, outpatient HDR suite, dual energy CT simulator, a Varian Edge and 2 True Beam LINACs. All have OSM , 6D0F couch, and 2 with Calypso. A 4th room is available. Simulation with 1.5, 3.0 T MRI is available. The department utilizes Aria, R & V as well as Eclipse treatment planning systems.    Additional clinical sites include a second outpatient cancer center located in western Omaha and a facility 70 miles southeast of Omaha. Transportation is provided for coverage at this site. This position reports to the chair of Radiation Oncology.  Qualification: Applicants must have a MD or DO degree with completion or near completion of a residency in ACGME accredited Radiation Oncology. Applicants applying should have experience in 3D- CRT , IMRT , SABR , SRS and HDR .
