Role Description

Oracle A-Team is a team of architects, software engineers, and technical solution architects within Oracle's Product Development organization. We are looking for an energetic engineer to join our team for this remote role based anywhere in the US.

As a senior member of the team, you will be working on multiple engineering initiatives such as improving CI/CD capabilities, observability, anomaly detection, incident management and the re-platforming of our SaaS applications. You will be required to code regularly, working closely with several engineering and product management teams across Oracle to meet customer challenges and market demands.

In addition to product development activities, you will occasionally engage in a variety customer facing activities such as architecting cross-cloud solutions, building POCs and resolving complex technical issues affecting customers.

Much of these engagements will be of high-visibility and high-strategic value, and require A-Team involvement due to the complexity of the required solution, and early stage nature of the products involved.

You will be required to capture best practices and create collateral such as white papers, blogs and publish code assets.

The ideal candidate is someone who is continuously looking to learn and be challenged. Broad knowledge of cloud native technologies and general knowledge of networking and security is required. Any SaaS knowledge is highly desirable.

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Hands-on experience working with Cloud-native technology. This includes but not limited to areas such as Kubernetes, Service Mesh, Observability (MELT), Serverless, Automation, CI/CD frameworks, API Gateway, VCN and IAM.
  • Experience as a DevOps engineer or Site Reliability Engineer
  • Fluency in one or more scripting languages such as Python or Golang.
  • Solid understanding of how to configure, deploy, manage and maintain large cloud-hosted systems; including auto-scaling, container management, monitoring, automation, scripting, troubleshooting and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge about cloud security and best practices.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with a quick learning style and a strong ambition to remain up to date with current technologies and trends.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical reasoning skills capable of flexible and lateral thinking.
  • Any experience in developing/operating/managing enterprise SaaS offerings such as Oracle SaaS, Salesforce, Workday or even non-enterprise SaaS is highly desirable.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities include
  • Lead technical discussions with customers, partners, and other Oracle teams.
  • Establish relationships and feedback channels into product management and product engineering ultimately resulting in product improvements and innovations.
  • Code tools, prototypes, demos, and re-usable assets aimed at Product Development, Pre-sales teams, and post-sales teams
  • Design complex and innovative technical solutions leveraging Oracle Cloud offerings to address critical business requirements of our customers. Participate in highly technical discussions.
  • Manages competing, quickly changing priorities effectively and handle input from many internal and external collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Structure and execute plans for a given project in challenging environments with a minimum of guidance.
  • Closely collaborate with high calibre peers and a variety of teams and groups in a highly dynamic environment - Developers, Product Managers, Senior Leaders, Pre-Sales, Consulting, Documentation, QA, among others
  • Identify recurring patterns and solutions and generalize these for broader re-use across the entire ecosystem - Oracle, Partners, and Customers.
  • Identify common pain points in Oracle products and Solutions, and propose alternatives to improve them.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies significant changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 10 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
